Some interesting photos. Here's one of the team at National Airport in 1949 along with flight attendants at the top of the ramp: (Capital Airlines merged with United in the 1960's.)

I had many good friends who were on the 1948/49 and 1949/50 teams and I see none of them in this photo. Think the year is wrong.

Good catch--although the Library exhibits references "Members of the 1949 Georgetown Football Team...pose for a photo en route to a game against Tulsa with their loyal mascot, Butch, who served from 1943-1950", the Hoyas actually played at Tulsa in 1948.
And now that I think about it...maybe this isn't the team after all! The gentleman on the left is holding a trumpet. Could this be the marching band?
FWIW, Jack Hagerty is nowhere to be seen, nor Mush Dubovsky, nor any linemen of football size.

FWIW, Jack Hagerty is nowhere to be seen, nor Mush Dubovsky, nor any linemen of football size. I have a guess -- perhaps this is the men of the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) maybe en route to basic training (?) and that is not a trumpet but a bugle in the man's hand as I do not discern any valves on the instrument (at least none that I can see) I'm one of the founding members of the GU Pep Band and trumpet player and when I was a freshman in 1973, the old marching band uniforms were still in the band room in Old North as were the original arrangements of the fight song. I hope the Archivist has possession of those items. The complete caption to the photo references the ASTP: "The Hoyas pose for a photo en route to a game against Tulsa with their loyal mascot, Butch, who served from 1943-1950. Butch, a Great Dane, was originally the mascot for the men in the Army Specialized Training Program at Georgetown. He was adopted by the College after his owner, Captain Andrew D. Gruber, was sent overseas. Butch quickly became a hit on campus and was known to be a sociable dog who attended a wide variety of campus events."
