On Sunday, Mike Pompeo said President Trump ended peace talks with the Taliban because the group "failed to live up to a series of commitments they had made." It wasn't clear that Taliban leadership had ever agreed to come to Camp David for the meeting.
Incompetent and ineffective with a large side of crazy town...

Firing Bolton might be the only good thing Trump has done. Of course, it’s fixing his original mistake but corrections are good.

It does seem like trump is a bit skittish about getting involved in a war. I’m sure he’ll hire another nut but I’m not as worried about trump initiating something stupid.

I bet it’s Donald Trump as his own advisor. He knows everything about everything so what’s the point of someone in that seat?

NC House Democrats went to a 9/11 memorial service this morning, with assurances by House Republicans that nothing important would be taken up while they were away.
And then this happened.
ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT for democracy by the North Carolina GOP
The party couldn't convince enough Democrats to side with them to override the Governors' veto of the budget so Republicans held a surprise vote this morning while many Democrats weren't around

There won't be much of a process as long as Trump is President. What advisers say doesn't matter because he dismisses their opinions anyways. He just goes with his gut, or whatever he feels will preserve, or boost his ego.

These North Carolina Republicans clearly have no shame. If Democrats ever did this, Fox News pundits would be calling for an armed revolt.

The Post initially reported that "many House members were attending a 9/11 memorial." According to the Raleigh News, it turns out only one was. 2. The Post reported that Republicans had called for a "surprise vote." According to the Raleigh News, audio from the session the day before said that votes would be taken the next day. And there were bills on the legislative calendar that day as well. 3. After being corrected by the local news, the Post had to issue a "clarification" that its original story "overly generalized the reason for the Democrats' absence from the General Assembly session." At least the Post acknowledges when it gets something wrong.

Do you actually believe Democrats were aware a vote would be held and decided not to show? That is ridiculous considering that Democrats had successfully sustained the veto already. This was shady, and chipping away at one piece of the reporting does not clean the dirty hands of these House Republican members.

At least the Post acknowledges when it gets something wrong. Rep. Lewis tells us that only the chair leader makes the decision on votes but also admits to texting a reporter that he didn't think any votes would be taken on Wednesday, does that make sense? If the chair hadn't talked about any no vote session, why is he texting a reporter to tell her he didn't think votes would be taken on Wednesday? Seems sketchy to me Democrats say the heart of the issue isn’t what was written on the calendar, but what they were told by House GOP leadership. House Democratic leader Darren Jackson of Wake County said he was told by Republican Rep. David Lewis, of Harnett County, that no votes would be held during the morning session. So Jackson told the Democratic caucus that they didn’t need to be there.
Lewis, who presided over the House Tuesday, denied that claim during the GOP press conference.
He acknowledged texting a WRAL reporter Tuesday night to tell her he thought there would be no votes during the Wednesday morning session. But Lewis didn’t relay that prediction to anyone else, he said.
“At any time that there has been a no-vote session scheduled, the chair has either announced that from the dais, or has sent an email, or both,” Lewis said. “None of those occurred yesterday.”[/b] www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/article234962017.html

Can we change the title of this thread yet? If not, can someone point me to an actual Republican in the party?

I, for one, am stunned to learn that the post-hearing investigation that Sen Flake insisted upon was a complete sham.

I like the part where it says the Senate restricted the investigation to not allow interviews with any of the witnesses and then declared the evidence couldn't be corroborated. Straight scumbag stuff, but totally par for the course... That's probably second to them covering up another claim of misconduct with an eyewitness.
