..And does Patrick Ewing seems to be betting on heart, guts, and wanting it more than ratings?

Think he's trusting his eyes more than the rankings. He has a style that he wants to play and is recruiting to that style. He definitely seems to like kids with a strong work ethic and that 95 Knicks mentality.
I'm also sure Pat would like to get to the point were he is landing more proven 4, and possibly 5 star players consistently.

He is doing just what he said he would in his earliest interviews after getting the job -- going for guys who are hungry but under the radar a bit. I've said it before, but he might be the most honest voice in the sport right now. He wears it all out there on his sleeve and has a very good idea of how he wants to go about things. I think it's a smart strategy, because while it's great to get those 5 stars, you can't COUNT on it at a place like Georgetown, so the foundation has to be laid with the guys you develop.

Patrick will win championship(s). He has a lot of unfinish d business in regards to his legacy.
What also wins championships? How about a point guard that restores the term “floor general” . Akinjo w get in the opponents face & his own teammate s Face If necessary...
Depth wins titles too. From great practices to having the numbers to withstand tourney foul trouble...

Most of the players he is going after for future classes are at least four star guys. That said the quality he seems to be looking for in all of them are guys who played like he did...only faster. He is a proponent of speed, pushing the ball, aggressiveness, toughness, desire to play defense and having a chip on one's shoulder.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Both are areas that we have been hurting in for the last 5-6 years. I believe the assembling of that next year squad is going to tell us all we need to know as far as when we will definitely be back in the hunt for a championship.

..And does Patrick Ewing seems to be betting on heart, guts, and wanting it more than ratings? I dont think he has much choice at this point but to find underrated kids that fit his system. He got lucky with Morko and James becoming available late but he flat out won the battle for Josh.....not to say he didn't win the other two 4*s but they were going elsewhere if not for coaches losing their jobs.....I think '20 is the year where Pat starts bringing in mostly 4* & 5* kids....our style of play and winning will attract the studs....imo

Let me ask you another question...one I have to ask...Do you think Pat has put to rest the question of can he coach college basketball?

Every coach has to prove that eventually, so yeah.

It depends on what you mean by “coach college basketball.” Clearly, Ewing has put significant effort into his job, he’s recruited some nice players, and generally said the right things. So in that sense, yes. But ultimately whether you “can coach college basketball” is whether you can get wins, get to the NCAA tournament, and win when you get there. So in that sense, Ewing (just like virtually every coach who only has one year under his belt) still has much to prove.
