Is this in reference to Yurtseven? Yeah I mean that's what he is right? An inside outside big? Yeah, definitely not a banger imo... More a finesse guy.

He could practice with the team and test the waters- never playing a single game as a Hoya?

I've mentioned this before but I'll say it again. Do we really want on the block or even mid range bigs? Pat would not be nearly as effective in today's game unless he took his range out to the 3 point line. Look at Azibuke last night. He is a top flight traditional big and he was deemed all but useless last night. That being said I think Pat realzies this and hopefully let's those guys go elsewhere. Every college coach should be reevaluating their programs direction if they aren't playing the positionless shooter style. Is this in reference to Yurtseven? No wasn't talking about any particular player. More saying this idea that having Pat as our coach will mean we get great traditional bigs that will come because they will want to learn from him. I'm not so sure that's a good thing.

Yes Yurt7 has 2 years of eligibility after his transfer red shirt year but will more than likely be a 1 year sit, 1 year play and move on to the pro's. He is really good and Coach Ewing would make him a stud. Consistent Toughness has been his weakness. Coach Ewing would change that during his sit out year...

How about this for a double-double: 91 points and 28 rebounds. www.si.com/college-basketball/2016/05/15/omer-yurtseven-recruiting-fenerbahce-91-point-game

Don't shoot me for this question...
...but let's say this all true (fingers crossed) is it in any way a problem that he hasn't officially announced he is transferring and Ewing is basically hinting that he is a Hoya?
I don't know the rules...

If I'm understanding correctly : - Ewing suggested in an interview we have *someone* who will sit out a year - other sources suggest it might be Yurtseven, but we have no idea. No way in the world that's any sort of issue. Ewing is not hinting that any particular person is a Hoya, unless I'm missing some other interview.

Would definitely be an interesting turn. Player who would be All-BE level but also I’d be scared that we’d never actually get him in uniform for a game based on his pro prospects (here or abroad).
He tested the NBA waters after his mediocre freshman year, so he’s clearly ready to head off as soon as he can. Tough one. High ceiling, high risk.

Why is he transferring from N.C. State? It seems like he had a relatively successful season there under Keats and sitting out a year is more likely to delay his ability to go pro a year than just playing another year for a pretty good coach.

I don't know the rules... Yurt7 left NC St stating he's going to test NBA waters and if that isn't a viable option, he would transfer. He may not announce it until 10 days after the NBA combine as the rules dictate. Side Note: I'm a little surprised that Govan and Derrickson aren't at least testing the waters and going through the combine just to get a feel of the process. I know with Coach Ewing and his NBA connects, they probably have all the information they need to make an informed decision to return for their senior year but thought they would at least go through the process just to get a feel of how it works once before their senior year. There is some debate as to whether going through the draft process before you are ready can leave a bad first impression with GM's and draft personnel hurting your stock but the rules allow you to go thru the process as many times as you can as long as you don't hire an agent and remove yourself from the draft and return to school no more than 10 days after the combine. Just curious as to why neither Govan or Derrickson seem to give it much consideration.

If I get the jist of the article he made 18 free throws to get to 91. That suggests not only can he score inside and outside but he also makes free throws. Other teams would not be able to "Hack a Shaq" on him. Lets hope this rumor proves true!

Someone o Casual Hoya stated that in an interview on the Tiki something show (sorry) Ewing said that Govan and Derrickson were testing the waters, although nowhere and no time else has he made such a claim (yet). In other interviews this week from San Antonio he talks of both of them coming back. So perhaps they will test knowing they would both come back and Ewing is certain of their return as well. Or maybe none of this is actually happening.

Why is he transferring from N.C. State? It seems like he had a relatively successful season there under Keats and sitting out a year is more likely to delay his ability to go pro a year than just playing another year for a pretty good coach. I see it as the perfect scenario for Coach Ewing and the current roster. Let's face facts, with the freshman class coming in, Morning returning from injury for his last season and Govan/Derrickson both returning, that would leave the cupboard bare in 19-20. A transfer BIG is the best situation, especially one as talented as Yurt7. I usually don't think taking transfers that are heading into their Junior year is a good idea because you could have them play 1 year before they graduate and can move on again but players as talented as Yurt7 is the exception to the rule. Worst case senario is he decides to go pro overseas after his sit out year and he never plays a game for Georgetown, you get the scholarship back for the 19-20 season and he hopefully pushed the Govan, Derrickson, Mourning and Carter in practice. Best case scenario is he stays and after Govan, Derrickson and Mourning graduate, you have an All BIG EAST caliber Big man who fits perfectly in Coach Ewing's offense stepping in with a year in the system under his belt.Â
