Just got back from Tombs. Not their best game - Mac missed all of his outside long 2's and 3's. I mean all - about 10 shots. James made more but all in all it was not their best offensive day but they both played pretty good hard nose D. They murdered Higher Level in the beginning and led by 17 at the 1/2 then they forgot to play in the second 1/2 and let them go up by 4 or 5 with about 4 minutes. Then they got it together and pulled away at the end by a few points for the W. Not their best offensive game - Mac had about 22 pts with James scoring more - about 30.

Like to see McClung, Malinowski and Carter work on their threes. They all have smooth strokes and we need them to be consistent this season. Pickett on crutches!?

Tombs lost by a few - they were out manned. 6 guys showed up while the other team had 10! Mac played the entire game and James had a 30 sec break. They were just plain tired at the end and their long bombs were not dropping. Both played better than yesterday Mac had about 27 and James also more or less. Played good D. But the story was Malinowski - shot the daylights out of threes he was the reason they won - Yurtseven isn't going pro in 1 year - needs too much work.

Props to Jessie Govan, who was watching from the top row sporting a Keegan Rosenberry jersey. Supporting his fellow Hoya.

Akinjo and McClung will be a joy to watch this season. Akinjo’s ability to finish in traffic is the key to his success as a true pg. The entire opposing frontline has to be aware that he has the ability to break down any guard trying to guard him so they are hedging towards him and taking an eye off the Hoya they are supposed to be guarding. This makes the assist by James to that Hoya all the more easier. Envision many flush dunks this season.

This makes the assist by James to that Hoya all the more easier. Envision many flush dunks this season. I remember very few drive n' dish for the flush assists within the half-court offense last year. I don't think just Akinjo has this capability. Mac does as well. He'll be able to draw defenders and find the open man too - he's underrated as a passer. Will also be nice to find more drive n' kick for the open 3 assists. And if the defense begins to sag and play for the dish or kick assist, both James and Mac can finish with creativity and while absorbing contact. Things open wide up in any offense with well-timed, under control, guard penetration. Will be really fun to watch our 2 new guards (as well as the entire offensive system) develop this season.
