Did you guys see Mac in the scrimmages? He’s tearing up 5 stars! Go to his thread on the recruiting board. He is going toe to toe with Villanova’s 5* point guard and holding his own.

Watching the interaction between Mac and Iverson, I wonder if there is a possiblity of Iverson getting energized about the Hoyas and getting a bit more involved and a bit more visible around the program. I think that could only be good for us.
Mac is not an Iverson clone or wanna-be, but he is dynamic and exciting to watch at a similar size. Also, a freak of an athlete is his own way.

I thought Iverson was involved and supported the program, but he just did it on the low. He publicly backed III last year and was at the Big East tournament game with St. John's.

I didn’t know that, and I follow the program closely.
I would think a visible presence would help a bit on the recruiting side.

Correct, he is definitely involved, but usually not publically.

AI definitely has an interest in Mac and wouldn’t be surprised to see more of him around the program. As for assessing Mac, the scrimmage may be more telling than the actual game. Those kids went hard. The game may be more of a show.

Mac is also providing excitement not just to the fan base but in other needed and crucial area of the younger players that following him and that word on the streets. The combination of Coach E efforts and Mac is definitely starting to get the GU word out there again with some excitement.
And we can really tell it's gaining traction when you start to see the GU apparel showing up in various places other than campus.

I've definitely seen non-Georgetown fans reference McClung on Facebook, etc., so he is definitely unique in that respect, especially for a guy who isn't highly ranked. Hopefully the marketing folks can take full advantage of that in the coming years.

This is all nice and warm and exciting but in the end we just need to start winning.

Hopefully the marketing folks can take full advantage of that in the coming years. He has nearly 500k instagram followers. In this era of social media, he is hands down our highest profile recruit ever. He's going to get a lot of early attention regardless of his play and if he pans out, he could do wonders for the program with regard to eyeballs and interest.

This is all nice and warm and exciting but in the end we just need to start winning. Showing the ability to score, distribute, play defense would help towards the winning part moreso than the dunks. His dunking ability has captured the eye of non-hoya and casual basketball fans, which can't hurt with visibility for the program.

I actually think Mac will provide an attendance bump. I hope he’s on a number of Plays of the Day clips.

Those fans that follow him will quickly move on when he's just a good college player and not a future NBA player. Casual fans are not reasonable, they probably think he's going to be a future NBA star. That's why I hate the hype. It's fueled by a bunch of young people with unrealistic expectations and will label him a bust when he's just a solid college player.
Honestly it's annoying and setting the kid up for failure and I feel bad.

Matt’s ceiling really depends on his b-ball IQ zas much as anything. He’s got the toughness and athleticism....can he make those around him better?

Almost like when AI made his first appearance....I know he's not AI, but the excitement level is nice.

His dunking ability has captured the eye of non-hoya and casual basketball fans, which can't hurt with visibility for the program. While everyone is impressed, and rightfully so, about his athleticism and dunking highlights, I think the thing that is most impressive about Mac is his scorers mentality. He really looks like he thinks that he can score on anyone. A good team needs someone that when the game gets tight, they can give the ball to, get out of his way and that player feels like no one can stop him. It would be great if that translated to next season.
