According to espn.com, only two Hoyas have averaged 5+ assists since the 2001-02 season. Braswell in 01-02, and Wright in 10-11. Obviously we played a different system at a different pace during most of those years, but still, let's temper expectations a bit. I believe Mac will be the next one for the simple reason he is a true point guard and has a high basketrball IQ.

I guess it falls under the heading of handling the ball but the biggest thing I'd want from him is NO TURNOVERS!!!

I know mac may not be rated as a5 star because people often complain about his weak competition but same can be said about dame lillard he played for a non major conference however he proved he can ball. To me its not about the stars there are alot of NBA players that are studs now not even rated in highschool and there are 5 stars that didnt even play a lick in college. Mac is the perfect definition of a baller he always rise up to the occasion and always brings it. Mac stayed in his city because he wanted to bring glory to them if mac joined IMG and any top highschool programs and gets the title guess what we may not even get him like the prospects that passed on playing here. lets just be thankful we have a guy that led his team to a state title and is ready for the challenge unlike any other 5 stars who had a great team that led them to the state title but didnt even pan out in college. Mac coach said he thinks Mac is a 5 star point guard. I agree.

Either they just didn't flat out want him or maybe thought he wasn't "strictly" a point guard due to highlight reels. LOL.. could be many factors who knows. Just saw you answered my question while I was editing the previous post. He seems to have a Grayson Allen skill set, I would think he would be a nice fit. Yes....

I believe Mac said one of the reasons he chose the Hoyas was because he feels Ewing can get him to the next level. So I assume Mac has plans to play pro ball in some form. That being the case, in any form of pro ball his only chance is at the point. He's smart enough to know that, as is Ewing. If he wants to succeed at the point he better start playing it now. In his AAU games and high school games he's played on and off of the ball and has done well especially making his teammates better.

Mac is already bringing positives to the program. That is something also Coach E probably knew and indeed wanted. That is while coach is helping this young lad improve, pushing him for greater glory, and bring the program improvement at this position (regardless of the number of *s) this young fellow also brings excited conversation around the point guard position here now. It's been a while since there has been excitement at this position. So the more the hype and excitement it helps excite other young possible point guard recruits, and maybe they began to think this just maybe their landing place now. That is one thing we have needed for a while is excitement around that position. So all I can say about this young man at this time is go for it young Mac, do your thing, lead the way for other PGs, so that this is now an option to do what they do best. I wish nothing but success for him, which leads to success for the team. We can always use more talented ones even now and later. I can not fret, dissect, complain about this young man's level of what is now past, I congratulate him on his accomplishments (And no matter what level you come from these were some incredible accomplishments for a young person) now on the SUMMER workouts and improvements are next, then FALL application of skills and improvements. This one is on board and ready to go. Now the program I'm sure is working on the next one. They're getting it now. lol

He was a leading juco scorer, but when you dissect his game.... 1). He drove to the the basket look for a floater or a foul 2). He made a lot of foul shots 3) He had a decent 3 point shot that started at his hip. At times, that worked a bit for the Hoyas last year. If you watch Mac’s videos, his game seems to be a lot more diverse. As someone who has consumed as many of Mac's full games and box scores as have been put out there this list pretty much describes Mac as well. While his form is bad Mulmore is a much better shooter than Mac right now. There has been no proof that Mac is a good shooter at this point. Mac is obviously a better finisher. lol

Across all levels (LM-HM) there's probably around 5-7 freshman in the country that put up a stateline of 10pts and 5 assists... So, what are you saying? I think what I'm saying is a or any point guard that puts up those numbers has done his job. This is not just coming from me. It's a fact. If Mac can do this night in and out he's done his job. Glide please stop fighting with everyone and try consolidating your posts into 1 response not 10 in a row.... I didn't ask what numbers does he have to put up to be viewed as doing his job, I asked what you thought he would average. You answered 10 and 5. My answer explains why 10 and 5 is not a likely average for incoming freshman at the HM level.

All I simply said is for a point guard to have 10 pts. 5 assists, a few rebounds he's done his job for the night. Where is this fighting. When you used to inbox me you said opposite oh my have we changed now? Next time inbox like you used to thanx. Stay on track bro. I said both man. Maybe he will average this on a HM level idk. It was just my opinion.

Stop that fighting with everyone BS. You can inbox me anything else. Don't act like you don't know. You can ask me what you need to in my inbox out of respect.

DSR, I think most didn't know he wasn't a true point guard. At times he would play like one, at times he wouldn't. To me, it was pretty clear right away that DSR wasn't a point guard, and that was even more obvious after Starks graduated. He did his best, but he definitely excelled more when Starks handled the typical point guard duties. I think too much focus is put on how many points/assists McClung can get his freshman year. Maybe my expectations are lower, but I just want a player who is efficient, adds to the team, and is a net plus over what we already have. I understand he may be forced into a bigger role than that, and hopefully he will exceed my own expectations, but saying that McClung should achieve something only 7-8 other freshman in Division I have achieved is a bit much.

I hear you, but we just never know. Mac is an unselfish player as always said he puts him team in front of himself. Whoever knew Bracey, the kid we were going to get would be second in his confefence is assists (5.8). Having a true point guard makes a heck of a difference. Especially one who knows how to make his teammates better. If I can remember people said some of the same things about this kid Bracey. He proved them wrong. Bracey averaged 12.5 points per game while shooting 63 percent from the field (10-of-16) and making all three of his three-point attempts. He also dished out 12 assists in helping Tech extend its longest winning streak of the season to four with convincing home victories over Rice and North Texas.
On Thursday night, Bracey, a Baltimore native, had eight points and five assists on offense while also helping the Bulldogs hold the 19th highest scoring offensive in the country in the Owls to 20 points below their season average in a 74-64 win.
Bracey is currently averaging 5.7 assists per game, third most in C-USA. He is up to 114 assists this season. (Last season)
I think they forgot about Bracey This Just In lol Much respect.

Agree. Mac will be asked to carry a big load because of the recruiting shortcomings of the last administration. Pat may still be able to land a good PG. Lots of guards in motion and we only need one. Yes, a being a point guard is always carrying a big load. Look at the point guard's job description. He's the coach on the court. It'll be good to have a back up. But at least we have Malinowski who makes good decisions on the ball on the wing.

I would be happy with 7-3. Assists could hit 5, as Mac will be the primary facilitator and we run. I also believe that he will go for 15 plus on several occasions.
