Please dont get upset or racist...hate to preface this. Georgetown Hoyas had at least three African players...forgive me for butchering their names. In no particular order: Dikembe Mutombo, Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje, Boubacar Aw, and Joseph Cuomo....whatever names are wrong, please correct me.
Bottom line, why are we not getting any of these players anymore?
Dikembe, Mourning and others are participating NBA Africa, why arent we getting any looks? Baylor has several players from the continent. Georgetown is a great international school.
Beat me up if you must, but, I think this is a legitimate question.

I don’t see anything wrong with the question. Hopefully this connection will grow soon. But relationships take time to build, especially internationally. It is too early to say anything about Ewing and his ability to draw international prospects.

We obviously had some connections but they seem to have disappeared, schools like Florida State, Louisville, and Baylor seem to have a pipeline of African athletes.

If we could recruit in our own backyard, we wouldn’t even be asking this question.

I think the African connection was more of a John Thompson Jr thing. He was to recruit a number of African players. Escreick and JT3 never really recruited them the way Big John did.

We may see some later down the road though.

For those who question the lack of an African connection, it's not like there is a European, South American, or Asian connection either.
International admissions is a lot more complex than we have discussed to date.

Maybe it has something to do with a lack of D1 level players in comparison to the size of the continent such that it's both difficult and disadvantageous to recruit. As other posters mentioned, there's plenty of talent within driving distance that's far easier to evaluate and contact. That alone would be a huge disincentive for recruiting abroad. Not just Africa but anywhere abroad. This is the most recent graphic I could find but sort of interesting: www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/graphic-2016-ncaa-tournament-players-by-states-countries/

Not a racist question, Also alot of the really good African players arent coming here anymore.they go to play Europe pro until they are draft age and just enter the nba draft then if they are good enough.

Glide, yes we got Chris Sodom....I believe he was in the US at another school, de-committed, etc. I'm talking about direct recruitment vs. re-routing from other commitments. To be honest, I don't know how our previous African recruits got here. What about other international recruits? DC area is a transient destination for many in international affairs. I appreciate people entertaining this issue. I believe it is an area of opportunity for the program. Georgetown appears to be a very international and diverse student body.
