A Maryland's Anthony Cowan type of point guard except I think he could be better.

Idk but how does he look to you? This was a point guard I researched in the dmv. Actually i never heard of him but see he's one of the pgs in the dmv. I'm on record saying I don’t want anything to do with under the radar types, the take a chance on late bloomers. It’s what has help cripple the program. If this is the best the Hoyas can do, then we should be packing it in. I am far from a talent evaluator so it strikes me as odd that nobody else is looking at him. What do you consider under the radar types? Carter and McClung are both ranked 200+. Are they under the radar or because no one has really jumped at this kid he's under the radar. The kid I don't believe is on Gtown's radar anyway so we are probably debating over nothing but I agree w/Glide in the sense that not every kid is going to be a 4/5 star recruit so uf you take a flyer on a couple of kids they should be local ones.

Yeah man. Right in our back yard. We can't keep letting our kid's get away from us especially the ones we sorely need. If so, our team will continue to play inconsistently at the point guard spot. What if McClung does down to injury. Hope he doesn't but ...

That's for Maryland, but not the D or the V. Regardless of the numbers, I think we all agree there's a ton of homegrown talent in the area, and we need to continue/increase our ability to recruit the best from the DMV.

There's a lot of people here on this board that know I'm right but too arrogant to say anything.

There’s just as many that think you are a self-absorbed petulant nuisance. All they have to do ask questions. Self-absorbed??? LOL! The assumptions. I can't help if I'm confident with you may see as self-absorbed. Such big words to make you feel special? LOL! Grow up and thank you.

Wise is ranked #9.
Prephoops says: We saw Wise HS & Sherwyn at the DeMatha BSN Summer League and The University of MD Team Games in which Wise came in 2nd place. In the MD Games finals, Wise gave St. Frances of Baltimore, who has the potential to be a Top 30 nationally ranked team, all they could handle in a very tough game. Sherwyn is a very tough, heady & crafty PG who brings high energy & leadership to the Pumas. We consider him one of the most UNDERRATED Point Guards in Maryland/DC with the upside of a D1 prospect.
We really like Sherwyn's compact, tight & shifty style of play which allows him to protect the ball & get thru small seams of the defense. Sherwyn posses a very high basketball IQ and there is no wasted motion in his play. On offense he wants get Wise into quick organized ball movement. Sherwyn picks his spots very well & he knows when to facilitate vs. scoring where he is capable of scoring in bunches. He's says, "my first priority is to run the team offense & get my teammates open looks. I am a play-maker & I used my QUICKNESS & AGILITY to be my defenders off the dribble to hit open teammates. Additionally, I can set up my defender catching him off guard & blow by him. I try to be one play ahead & I am always scanning & reading my options on the court which comes naturally. If an opponent is playing zone defense I am not passive & split the seams in the zone or traps. LEADERSHIP is another strong point. I am vocal and lead by example. I think I have great instincts on when to praise a teammates or get in their ear."
Whenever there is an opportunity Sherwyn will push the ball up court & he excels in the transition game where he maneuvers very well in traffic. In the half court sets, he runs the Wise motion offense to perfection. Sherwyn adds, "Ball handling is another strong point & I can use both hands to beat full court & half court on ball pressure with my handle.
We have seen Sherwyn score very from all 3 levels, and he has a fantastic pull up game in which he can stop on a dime. When needed Sherwyn finishes at the rim with an array of acrobatic moves using both hands and he can score from both sides of the floor. We really like his shooting stroke and Sherwyn has range beyond the 3 point line. Head Wise Coach Rob Garner says, "Sherwyn Devonish makes us the best. His leadership, presence, and experience will be highly needed to accomplish our team goals this year. We are extremely blessed to have him."
On the defensive end Sherwyn is very scrappy & aggressive. He says, "I like to play on the ball pressure man to man defense & beat my opponent to his desired spot. I like to press and I'm usually good for a few steals per game."
Last season Sherwyn averaged 13.5 ppg, 6 assists plus several steals per game & was awarded Honorable Mention All MD 4A (top classification in MD) by MD Sports Access. He had a very successful summer in the DeMatha BSN Summer Lg. playing for MD's Finest in grassroots play. WE think Sherwyn has the ability to climb the rankings this if the new & reloaded Wise Pumas can continue their excellent development from this spring & summer into the regular season & playoffs."
In the classroom Sherwyn is an excellent student with a 3.6 gpa & he is interested in majoring in Forensic Science or Culinary Studies in college. He considers his parents uncle & coaches at Wise as his role models. In basketball Sherwyn names Allen Iverson as his role model. Sherwyn says, "our goal is to return to the University of Maryland again & win a MD 4A State Title. I

Glide, why did he leave Dematha (WCAC) to play down to PG Public??? Wise this year and also Bladensburg last year. Usually it's the other way around. You would think there has to be some sort of back story. Kid has definitely bounced around a lot.
If no red flags, I guess they could bring him in and let him run with the fellas & speak w/ coach. let the chips fall where they may?
Read he models his game after AI

I don't know about that - the Johnson & Wales Oven Mitts are traditionally a powerhouse in the CAAA (Culinary Arts Athletic Association). Their coach James "Sommelier" Beard has won 8 of the last nine conference titles, and their big man Horace "The Maitre'D" Henderson ("don't even think about coming into my bistro unless you are prepared to pay the price") should be the #1 pick in the MBA (Michelin Basketball Association) in June.

A part-time gig in the kitchen at 1789 will hook him up. Going a lil bit too far seaweed . Not even sure what that means. I worked my ass off at numerous food and beverage places as well as retail (yeah, Kite Site!) to pay my way through GU. How is suggesting part-time work "going too far"? I don't get offended as easily as you do, but I just don't understand how my comment would bother anyone...

If you truly knew me you wouldn't say I get offended easily. There was a time that only African's in America could only only work in kitchens? But I'll leave this right here. Just maybe be more thoughtful? Maybe if you were me you'd understand? Anyways, I'll stick to basketball. It's amazing how off tracked some get in here. Then try to tell you how you are and they don't even know you. LOL! Amazing. Let it go man. sighs...
