I think he will probably be gone although I can't see him ever being a good pro. Didn't realize he was 24!!
Final nuggets Pitt junior point guard Carl Krauser, who would be a fifth-year senior if he were to return, is going to take his decision down to the final hours on Tuesday. Pitt coach Jamie Dixon told ESPN.com that Krauser has a workout slated with New York before the deadline. The Knicks have picks Nos. 8, 30 and 54. Krauser wouldn't be expected to go in the first round, but could be a selection at 54.
Krauser said in Chicago last week that he wouldn't be against the second round. Since Krauser is 24 and has a family to support, it wouldn't be a shock to see him stay in the draft even though there is no guarantee that he'll be picked.

Sucks for the BE, but good for the Hoyas.

He's 24 and he has his degree. He may not be an NBA player, but someone will pay him to play basketball. Frankly, he'd be kind of nuts to come back.
Pitt doesn't have a guy on there roster now who has proven that he's even above average for the BE at his position. They got that Graves kid, who can shoot threes. Kendall looked okay. They have have a nice class, and I'm sure Sam Young will be one of the better rookies next year, but they may take the biggest step back out of anyone in the league next year.

I feel sorry for them losing Krauser and Taft. Ouch! Jamie Dixon is a good young coach and I hate to see him under the gun.

His success has been with Ben Howland's players, who is now building UCLA back up again. Each year after Howland left, Pittsburgh has declined.

Yeah, CK is gone, I live in Pittsburgh, in all words around here is that he is gone. Also, I do not really think Dixon is that good of a coach. He had Yuri Demeitrius in there starting last year, until he got suspended for drugs, and Yuri was one of the worst players I have ever seen in my life. He just did not use Taft and CK to the best of his abilities. But, Pitt is not going to be good at all next year, we are all saying CK and Taft is gone, but the major player who is gone who kept that team going was Chevi Troutman. They have no leader, so they will be in a lil bit of trouble next year.

The departure of the patriarch coach who has rebuilt things always means an adjustment. It will take time for Dixon to bring in his recruits and truly put his stamp on the program. Meanwhile, he has kept them in the NCAAs in probably the toughest conference in the country. He even made a sweet sixteen. He should get at least a few more years to see who he can bring in and what he can do. That is why I hate to see them lose so much firepower. I don't want Dixon to be the victim of impatient fans who lack the proper perspective that it requires time for any coach to put his own mark on a program.

I don't care anything in particular about Pitt. I just think that people have been unfair to Dixon. I hope that clears things up.

In the games I saw Pitt play with Dixon coaching them and Howland coaching them, it is big difference. I'll be suprised if Dixon is still around in 5 years at Pitt.

That's the sound of the hyperbole police coming to take way to exageration-traz. Pitt will not be that bad - its just that they won't be as dominant as they were in recent years - I feel that they will return to the middle of the pack with teams like ND, WVU, Depaul, and Marquette who are capable of having very solid years depending on the strength of their starting 5, but aren't thought of as being on a par with the conference's big names: Syracuse, UCONN, Louisville. USF is TERRIBLE - they are the 1990 Tampa Bay Bucaneers of basketball - we will mop them up like Lithuania and our RPI will suffer for it - they will be like Baylor to Big 12 football - the extra off week.

No one said that Dixon is the next Red Auerbach (Sp?), Phil Jackson, Rick Pitino, etc-- but what has he done to Edited so many people off? It's not like Pitt was great under Howland, or as if they have been bad under Dixon. They have been pretty good-- but not great-- for the last several years.
I think what we're seeing now is Season III: Revenge of The Dixonhaters. Despite massive media attacks upon Pitt after they (GASP!!!) promoted an assistant, Pitt has still been good. Now it looks as if they could possibly have a slight offseason, and people are already lining up to take shots at the program. Much like the Sith, the Dixonhaters were full of promises that never came true, yet they persist in their annoying behavior. What Dixon needs to do is to recruit some young Luke Skywalkers-- or least a Lando, a Hans, and the occassional Chewbacca-- to lead his program back to prominence.
Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to the jealousy. Jealousy leads to the dark side...something like that.
