Can this kid shoot? Great that he has ballhandling skills, but Hoyas are desperate for some outside threats at the guard position next year. I haven't seen any evidence that Pinson is a 38% or higher 3pt shooter if that's what you're asking.. The game clips from this season show a pretty well developed mid range game and nice finishing capabilities..

Blair, Pickett, Derrickson, Govan, Carter, McClung, Mourning, and Malinowski can all shoot the three. We need guards that can get them open.....that is our problem. Can the kid run a team without averaging 6-7 tos....

Do not recruit anymore guys who are turnover prone OR who can't shoot...failure to do either results in a vulnerable recruit...got to possess both skills...

You also can't predict what the trade off will be on the other side of the box score.. Trae Young is averaging 7.7 turnovers per game in conference play right now, would folks take him?

With his usage rates, it's a completely different story. Plus what Young can do on the court is significantly better than what Pinson would be expected to be.

Exactly, that's why I mentioned the potential trade off in my post & asked would folks want Young even though he's averaging 7 to's per game.. Definitely wasn't trying to say Pinson is Trae Young like..

This may seem crazy but our pieces are better than Oklahoma's pieces. I dont believe trae would avg 30pts or 8tos in DC......We as a fanbase have been put in a really bad position with JT3s lack of recruiting guards that can penetrate off the bounce. Our pieces are better than they seem.....

I think the best one can hope for is someone who can shoot and dribble but has one of these flaws: 1. extremely short 2. extremely slow and unathletic (translating to can't play defense) 3. some kind of off court problem. 4. academic problems

Have no idea how McClung, Malinowski, Carter and Mourning will shoot the 3 in the Big East. We know very little about Mourning based on his lack of playing time. As for Blair and Pickett, I share your view of their potential but in reality both have struggled from 3 , notwithstanding today’s production. In any event I don’t think that it should be either a ball-handling guard or a shooter. Many teams have found kids with both skills. Pinson may be that player but it is difficult to tell from these videos.

No, I loved Freddie the Fredeye...knew him well...he was a tremendous/elite penetrator/passer coming out of HS in the Bronx at 6'5...never had quite the same explosiveness after he blew his knee out...you're right in that he wasn't much of a perimeter shooter, but his other talents made him a high level player especially early on...in today's game, though, its pretty essential that perimeter guys be able to knock down shots...its a shooters game (unless you are exceptional (as Fred was early on).

But other than that i completely agree with you we don't know enough pus how often each of these guys will play and who will make a jump over summer.
