They may. But I think if they’ve passed they see a bigger picture. No need to rush the process along it it means potential jeopardizing the long term growth. If the staff feels he might not fit, or they are confident in a player that is more highly rated who may be in line soon, good on them for recognizing it.

What's interesting about this recruitment is how public teams have been in "passing" on him. You don't usually see that, particularly with incoming transfers (you also don't typically see transfers set up press conferences to announce where they are going to school).
Based on the limited information available, it seems like the kid is very talented but a drama queen - he may come back to haunt us, he may not. I can understand the desire to stay away from him, particularly given what we've seen from Coach Ewing this year (i.e., a ton of passion and clear demand for hard work).

I have to feel pretty good about this. If Pat/the program don't feel like this would be a good fit, talent be damned. All of you should too. Pat is trying to build a program, and specifically a program culture. He's said it many times in interviews that it's a long game and will take time to do. If he feels for whatever reason that someone will not be a good fit for what he's trying to build, whether he's a top 40 player, or a guaranteed lottery pick, good on him for sticking to his guns and doing what's best for the long term success of the program. We're in good hands it seems.
FWIW I say this having argued for taking him despite positional need.

All around strange situation. Good luck to the kid. Now lets get a quick guard and a big, and hopefully Pickett and Blair develop in a way which would have made Tucker excess anyways.

And, not to mention, the two programs where his recruitment as a transfer had legs -- Georgetown and Butler -- did not have experience with him on recruiting trail last year. Even St. John's (also very desperate for scorers) passed.

There must have been enough red flags to make this an easier decision than we might think. I know people who know the kid(and father) very well but probably won't see them for another couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see what they say about him. (Also i have seen him play in person-I think he would have added to our squad but is not a transcendent talent on his own. his value add could have been high or marginal depending on how he meshed with the team. I was hoping he'd come, but usually decisions not to take somebody based on fit concerns are the right ones)

Schools not getting involved shouldn't be construed with passing on a kid imo..
