It seems like there are two camps: (A) GU lost a recruit to Butler (B) Butler got a recruit after Georgetown (and presumably others) "passed" on him. I'm in camp B. I had heard too many rumors that he wanted to come to Georgetown. There were photos of his snapchat with a Georgetown jacket and filter. His school choice was limited to non-ACC conferences because of the 2-year sitting out rule for transfers. He was in the DC area for an extra long time, while second semesters were starting everywhere. Travel plans to B1G and Big 12 schools never seemed to materialize. The Butler trip was the last visit and had no real advanced notice. This is Butler's highest-rated commit ever. He left Duke because of playing time which makes available minutes seem like a top priority. Butler has time to give, next year. He needed to enroll quickly to start his transfer sit-out clock. He could have just quietly enrolled. Moreover, his announcement appeared to be choosing between the two schools rather than the customary group of 3 or 4. No one announces a "final 2." Georgetown has lost out on many high profile recruits without being sore losers in the past. So what triggered a GU source to speak with Ben Standig? I tend to believe it was a source talking to Borzello and the tweet that made it appear as Butler vs. Georgetown that would prompt clarification that Georgetown may not have been a true option. It may have been self-serving but it may have been a message to Butler. Maybe I am biased, but looking at all the info available it's more reasonable to me that the over-complication and need for an announcement indicate that Ewing and the kid/family did not see eye-to-eye on his future rather than the folks at McDonough being spiteful to a kid joining another Big East team. On the flip side I think this means that GU knows that picket will be here for a while and still have very high hoes for him.

Logjam at SF position may have played a role. Johnson, LeBlanc, Pickett and others. The last thing you can do is guarantee playing time.

I definitely feel comfortable entrusting the future of the program to Ewing, but after watching us play once agin? How the hell do you pass on this kid when Pickett, Johnson, and Blair are our wings? Johnson is probably one of the worst top 150 kids on the offensive side of the game I've ever seen. We really need someone like Tucker so it's kind of upsetting that we passed on him unless there was some giant red flag? I think most of the fan base couldn't care less about our players personalities if they are performing on the court. We need to turn this around and make the Tourney/be a bubble team at the end of next year. If not, then we are looking at half a decade of missing out....

You can't blow your top from watching a team that would be ranked somewhere around #150 getting crushed by the #1 team in the country. If we look this bad at home against Provy or Quette have at it but right now we are out classed against this caliber of team. We will be a better team each year. I truly expect to be a tournament team next year.....

From a pure talent perspective, if we had an opportunity to take Tucker we should have. But, if there was a reservation unrelated to basketball that trumped all of that, then I don't have a problem with the pass at all. And we do not know (and likely never will) what those reasons are.

Watching him play tonight... he’s exactly what we are missing. And some were worried Pickett would block his PT.

Kid went to my HS. Talented, but not off the charts(my hs and our league produces a lot of D1 guys so I trust the assessment) Difficult to coach-know people who know him well just think Ewing did not want to deal with him. Could have helped GTWN, but not transformative.
