I have been pleasantly surprised by some of the new bench players.
I didn’t know what to expect from guys like Dickerson and Blair. I didn’t watch much if any of their highlight videos.
I like what I see so far. Are they future Big East 1st teamers? Maybe not, but they both bring some dynamicism to the game. I think I understand what Coach liked about them. Hopefully, they can grow to be solid contributors to the team.

Damned by faint praise in regards to Blair. I think he may develop into a big time contributor and will only rule out 1st team Big East for this year :-D.

Blair is a player! Dickerson is gone after this season, but he does have the look of a PG.

I think someone flying under the radar is Walker. From what little we've seen he may be the extra big man we'll need when Govan and/or Derrickson get in foul trouble, which they definitely will when we play top BE teams. Seemed a lot quicker than either of them and definitely more aggressive to the ball than Derrickson. I looked him up on Google and he has a pretty impressive resume. Anyone see him play at Woodson? Is my optimism misplaced?

Hope he can play some good defense.

I like Blair a lot but he must learn to play with more court vision and not lock-in as he gets the ball or waits for the pass. Too many times you can see that he is going to shoot or the pass is telegraphed. Still he is a very pleasant surprise. I think that Dickerson has more to offer than he has shown and love his quickness. Not sure if he has an outside shot but he can penetrate. Needs to learn to play defense. Walker seems like a kid with a nice future but still needing to develop more, particularly his ball-handling. Love his aggressiveness. Pickett has star potential if he becomes more consistent with his shot and improves his court awareness on defense so that he is not losing his man or missing the open man when the ball is rotated quickly. He already has a good handle and I could see him developing into a very potent threat as an off-guard.

The class of Blair, Pickett and Walker could turn out to be a really good class for the Hoyas. If Sodom can develop into a solid contributor in the next year or two then it is really a home run for his first recruiting class.

I like this class. I don't think there's a strong NBA prospect in there (Sodom because of height, Pickett has borderline talent), but by junior and senior year they could be as good or better than the Ashanti Cook / Brandon Bowman / DJ Owens type of players that laid the groundwork early on for III.
Pickett (I realize he's not off the bench) has the body and a nice shot that's not going in consistently yet. He finishes well on the break and has a nice opportunistic first step though he's not a one on on break down guy. I think a lot of people see star, but I think the best outcome is likely 3 & D type, like a Hollis with a bit less polish and a bit more fight.
I love Blair's game. Scorer mentality, shoots when open, plays in the cracks well from what I can tell. Don't think he's a breakdown penetrator at any point, but a poor man's DSR maybe?
Loved Walker's fight at the end of the half when no one had it, but have little other comment.
Where Sodom ends up is all about his work ethic. Dude has the height and enough athleticism to at least be a college star. We'll see -- he's a long way from it, but he has more potential than Bradley ever did, for example.

Pickett could make it if he works his tail off. More gifted than Hollis.
