The public has every right to see Robert S. Mueller III's conclusions. Absolutely nothing in the law or the regulations prevents the report from becoming public. Indeed, the relevant sources of law give Attorney General P. William Barr all the latitude in the world to make it public. Those regulations, which I had the privilege of drafting in 1998 and 1999 as a young Justice Department lawyer, require three types of reports. First, the special counsel must give the attorney general “Urgent Reports” during the course of an investigation regarding things such as proposed indictments. Second, the special counsel must provide a report to the attorney general at the end of the investigation, which Mueller delivered on Friday. And third, the attorney general must furnish Congress with a report containing “an explanation for each action … upon conclusion of the Special Counsel’s investigation.” www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/03/23/i-wrote-special-counsel-rules-attorney-general-can-should-release-mueller-report/?utm_term=.6d959a2cbea1Just as nothing compels its release either. I think his conclusions should be made public. However, it is not and will never be a matter of emergent consequence and nothing “entitles”anyone to the source documents. We live in world where too many people believe they are “entitled” to way too much. Question for legal maven SS: if Comey was wrong in outlining the facts re: Hillary when refusing to indict, should Barr do the wrong thing as a “make up” call?

Barr should follow the regs drafted by Katyal which is a floor not a ceiling regarding transparency. No "makeup call." Whatever facts and conclusions drawn by Mueller in his report go to Congress -- which may leak like a sieve.

Barr reports to Congress on actions taken, not necessarily all conclusions or facts.

Barr reports to Congress on actions taken, not necessarily all conclusions or facts. I'm talking about the FCI part of the investigation. Those facts/conclusions will be briefed to HPSCI and SSCI most likely in the SCIF (closed session). If not voluntarily provided in some fashion Congress will seek it. I'd like to see the oversight regime of HPSCI and SSCI return to "regular order" that fundamentally worked well until Nunes. I thin Senator Burr and Warner worked well together on the Senate side.

Give one reason why an innocent President would not want this report released.

Give one reason why an innocent President would not want this report released. Collateral damage to innocent third parties. On that topic, why would a genius like Obama not want his school records released?

On that topic, why would a genius like Obama not want his school records released? Great point. On one one hand we're talking about the motivations of the actors controlling our national interests and whether they actually represent our interests, and the depth of criminal conspiracy undertaken by the administration, on the other hand what someone got in gym and a level of inane personal scrutiny that's never been applied to any other candidate. Definitely comparable. Neither Trump or you care about collateral damage to innocent parties (see: every Nunes scheme you backed without even seeing if there was anything there). Your party just doesn't want whatever is found being public.

On that topic, why would a genius like Obama not want his school records released? What does it matter? Trump was the one to bring this up. Obama got into Harvard without family money to buy his way in, like Fred Trump did for his boy. Since he brings it up at his rallies, will Trump release his hs records? Btw, according to the newspaper investigators, Trump’s records were hidden somewhere in his high school by the principal. But, did someone check his college application at Fordham? Or is he the only hs student who didn’t need to submit his hs record to get considered by college admissions department at Fordham?

Having a Russian agent as president is unprecedented so it’s probably a good idea to handle this one differently than any other special investigation that came before.

Good you can read the minds of all involved. Kind of hard not to judge the motivations of a transparent criminal like Trump. He's so dumb he tells us himself.

Amazing to come to this thread and see Trump Derangement Syndrome dialed up to 10. “Russian agent”? Do you realize how crazed you sound? Are you besties with Joy Reed?

Trump could be hiding a fraudulent financial aid application in his college records. Wouldn’t put that past him.
