If you find all of these shootings even mildly disturbing, don't vote "Republican" on any ticket in any race.

While we are on this topic, what qualifies as a mass shooting?
2,3, 4 or more?
I ask because I live adjacent to the demilitarized zone that is Philadelphia (50+ years of one party rule) and I never see a thing out here about the daily tally of gun crimes and deaths under Messrs. Kenney and Krasner’s watch.

Let's defend the FBI and fire Director Chris Wray! Abbott and impeached AG Ken Paxton's fault, right? Texas also has had more people killed in mass shootings than any other state, according to data compiled by Everytown for Gun Safety stretching back to 2009, and the second-highest number of people killed in a single mass shooting, behind Nevada. Researchers and gun safety advocates aren’t surprised by mass shootings in Texas, where guns are plentiful and accessible largely due to lax and permissive laws. The FBI defines mass shootings as incidents in which at least four people are murdered with a gun. www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2022/06/03/texas-leads-nation-in-mass-shootings-and-gun-statistics-point-to-why/Sutherland Springs, Uvalde, El Paso Walmart . . . just off the top of my head. www.statista.com/statistics/811541/mass-shootings-in-the-us-by-state/And of course Charles Whitman mass killing at UT is one of the earliest and more famous mass murders. And Luby's. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_shootings_in_Texas Seems that the number of mass shootings in Texas are remarkable enough that the CBS affiliate in Dallas compiled this list. I wonder if the CBS Dallas newsroom was shocked? DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Before Uvalde, there was White Settlement. Before that, there was El Paso, Sutherland Springs and Killeen. Since 1966, Texas has been the site of more than 20 deadly mass shootings. From church to the workplace, these events have claimed the lives of more than 200 Texans. As part of our search for answers in light of the Uvalde shooting, we compiled a list of some of the deadliest mass shootings that have occurred in Texas over the past 50 years. www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/deadly-mass-shootings-in-texas/AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Once again, one of America’s deadliest mass shootings happened in Texas. Past shootings targeted worshippers during a Sunday sermon, shoppers at a Walmart, students on a high school campus and drivers on a highway. Among the latest victims were 19 children and two teachers in the small town of Uvalde, west of San Antonio, where on Tuesday a gunman opened fire inside an elementary school in the nation’s deadliest school shooting in nearly a decade. Each of those tragedies in Texas — which resulted in more than 85 dead in all — occurred in the last five years. apnews.com/article/uvalde-school-shooting-victims-0fc46ce400c3fed9081ee5c033d2aba5 www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2022/06/03/texas-leads-nation-in-mass-shootings-and-gun-statistics-point-to-why

From the same folks who exhibit no concern about mental health care except to use it as an excuse not to address gun violence.

I think the GOP believes that the best way to treat mental health issues is to give people guns. They make everything better.

Yee Haw! Data tracked by the Associated Press, USA Today and Northeastern University show the state suffered six mass killings by guns in 2022, and four more so far in 2023. (In their data, “mass killings” are defined as those with four or more fatalities, not including the gunman.) Texas has had the most mass killings of any state from 2015 to this year, 30 in total. The next highest state is California, which with about 9 million more residents had 27 total mass killings. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/09/26/texas-guns-open-concealed-carry-laws/Deaths from firearms in Texas — the vast majority of them suicides or homicides — have continued rising in Texas, reaching levels not seen in almost three decades. At the same time, Texas relaxed its gun laws in a decadeslong push to expand Second Amendment rights in the state, most recently in 2021 when Gov. Greg Abbott signed what Republicans called a “constitutional carry” bill into law, allowing Texans to carry handguns without a license or training. Texas lawmakers have approved more than 100 bills that loosened regulations on firearms over the last two decades, from blocking campus “zero tolerance” policies that expelled gun-carrying students to preventing hotels from restricting handguns, according to data compiled by ProPublica and The Texas Tribune. www.texastribune.org/2023/05/10/texas-gun-fatalities-laws/

We have over 400 million guns in this country. Guns are supposed to make us safer. The United States and Texas especially should have a near zero percent crime rate. Weird.

The rest of us are sick of it. Until mainstream Republicans tell their leaders they won’t support this anymore, it will continue. More importantly EVERY time a Republican pulls a lever for a Republican because they like MOST of their policies, they are voting for this to continue. Fixing this lies within their power. Sadly they just keep voting pro-carnage.

This moron got off easy. Father of Highland Park shooter pleads guilty for son’s access to guns AUKEGAN, Ill. — The father of the man accused of killing seven people and wounding 31 at the 2022 Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Ill., pleaded guilty Monday to seven counts of misdemeanor reckless conduct for his role in allowing his son to obtain firearms. Robert Crimo Jr. had been charged for “recklessly” sponsoring his son’s gun ownership application and allowing him access to firearms and ammunition, even though he was aware that Robert Crimo III had threatened violence and expressed suicidal thoughts. The young man was indicted last year in connection with the mass shooting in the suburban Chicago town. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/11/06/highland-park-shooting-father-guilty-plea/

If that's not the definition of what an accomplice is (to a layperson like myself), I'm not sure what is.

Four people were wounded after a shooter opened fire at a Walmart near Dayton, Ohio, before taking his own life Monday night, authorities said. The suspect, described only as male, entered the store around 8:35 p.m. and shot four people before turning the gun on himself, the Beavercreek Police Department said in a statement. www.cnn.com/2023/11/20/us/walmart-ohio-beavercreek-shooting/index.html
