Clever...if the goal was to make people quickly forget about how awful those jerseys were last night. To put fannies in the seats or to get some good publicity? Not so much.

It got written up by the Washington Post. You can't except that much press for a schools athletic department promotions. I would say its goal of good PR has been reached.

I'm not a fan of this one and think it makes us look silly, A2DA.
And specifically in section 118? Watching a game from 118 looked like a ton of fun when the Stonewalls had their banners and chants. Can anyone closer to the situation let us know whether AD or Mr. Grosse helped with that?

It's all good fun. We are all grumpy because the team is struggling. We are not going to win many BE games this year. Enjoy the promos.

Can anyone closer to the situation let us know whether AD or Mr. Grosse helped with that? Are you asking if the AD or Chris Grosso was involved with starting the Stonewalls? If you are, the answer is no, the Stonewalls were an alumni fan group started by a few alumni who sat in 118. Unfortunately after the past few seasons fan interest and support had declined to the point where it was difficult to continue the Stonewalls this season.

It's part promotion, part social commentary promoting living in the moment, I don't understand how you complain about this one. Pretty wholesome if you ask me, but I pretty much think Chris Grosse can do no wrong.
I wish they would really let Grosse loose on basketball promotions like they have on soccer - someone should lock him in a sweat lodge somewhere and then bring all his fever dream promotions into reality. I know it's our flagship sport and all, but I don't think there's anything about college basketball that screams out for gravitas and seriousness.

Wednesday game free to federal government employees due to shutdown. More great innovation I appreciate Chris Grosse's efforts but if this game had any ticket demand, you wouldn't need to paper the arena like this. If the ticket demand doesn't pick up soon, what's next? Free tickets if your last name begins with a consonant? After 14 games in 2011, GU averaged 12,675 a game. After 14 games in 2015, it was 9,407. After 14 games this year, it's 7,369. Think about that. There needs to be a real conversation about this, and it's about more than wins and losses.

I think it's about two things - wins and losses, and the new Big East. Think about what came before 2011: 2007: Big East champions and won the BET, 2 seed, Final Four. 2008: Big East season champions, BET finals, 2 seed, 2nd round. 2009: Off year, NIT. 2010: BET finals, 3 seed, lost in first round. Going into 2011, we had extremely successful seasons. Despite the 2010 flame out in the NCAA tournament, fan interest was at an almost all time high. That wasn't as true in 2015, and is certainly not true at all in 2017. The one outside factor is the change in the Big East composition after 2013. We always depended on drawing a lot of outside fans from the larger Big East schools to keep our attendance up, too. Teams like Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Louisville, West Virginia, Syracuse, etc. drew a lot of opposition fans to our arena, and the new Big East schools simply aren't that type of draw, even when they are good teams. This definitely was a big hit on our attendance, but there's really nothing we can do about this. We are lucky to be on FS1 and be in a major conference at all - if we weren't the 2015 and 2017 numbers would be way worse. Ultimately, we should be playing in a smaller, 8,000 to 10,000 person arena, but this is a pipe dream. If Georgetown gets better again and begins making the tournament year after year, attendance will grow significantly. A good example is Seton Hall - last Saturday the Prudential Center was pretty full (they don't sell the upper bowl though) because they are good. A few seasons ago, it would have been a mausoleum. The only factor we can control to some degree is winning. If we win, those numbers will improve. We may never get to the level of 2011, given that the Big East changed, but there's really nothing we can do about that.

Better team will create buzz. A couple of recruiting wins would go along way in accelerating the process.
