Can't be. We're not allowed to win recruiting battles against Maryland. Welcome, Jamorko!

JAMARKO PICKETT, PF, MASSANUTTEN MILITARY ACADEMY, 2017 One of the top steals of the early signing period, Jamarko Pickett is more about where he can be in three years rather than where he is at the current moment. The sinewy 6-foot-9 forward is all perimeter based but man, the skillset and upside from the DC native is quite extreme. After playing against Hamidou Diallo and his Putnam Science bunch on Friday evening, there was good pub about the five-star shooting guard, but better yet, greater intrigue surrounding Pickett. His range is pretty much unlimited from off the catch where the Massanutten product nailed a few jumpers from 20-foot and out. However, it was his improved athleticism around the basket and much better ball skills that really excited. Headed to Ole Miss next year, Pickett is elite on the unique scale where he will gain a number alongside to his name following our next ranking update. www.hoopseen.com/news/general/201611/national-prep-showcase-breakout-performers

Myers called Pickett, who is a strong shooter from the perimeter, “probably one of the most talented guys I’ve ever coached,” adding that Pickett could play both guard positions in addition to forward for the Colonels. “We’ll let him rebound and bring it down and play the point. We’re gonna set ball screens, pick and pop. He can obviously play off ball screens with the ball in his hands, which is a hard mismatch for people because he’s also capable of going to the post and scoring,” Myers said. “His challenge is just getting stronger. Right now he’s 6-9, probably like 195, so he’s gotta put on weight and all that stuff. But he’s got a great skill set and obviously can make plays.” www.nvdaily.com/sports/local-sports/2016/10/mma-postgrad-team-optimistic-in-return-to-court/

How is Pickett with three point shots? If he can make threes, he should instantly get minutes. Great one to land by the staff - glad to see their efforts paying off.

Oh believe me he is getting all the minutes he wants this year. There is a lot of KD comparisons out there because of location/style. I'm going to be a little more realistic and say a Whittington comparison is a pretty good one. Let's hope Jamarko works out better for us than Greg did.

How is Pickett with three point shots? If he can make threes, he should instantly get minutes. Great one to land by the staff - glad to see their efforts paying off. From the original release when he signed with Ole Miss: Pickett, a 6-9, 190-pound forward, comes to Oxford from Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia. Originally from Washington D.C., Pickett averaged 17.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots a game last year as a senior at Eastern High School for coach Emmanual Kakula en route to first team All-DCIAA honors. The No. 17 power forward in the nation according to Scout.com, Pickett also played for DC Premier AAU squad and averaged 14 points per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range on the summer circuit. He is averaging 20 points, seven boards and two blocked shots per game this season to help Massanutten and coach Chad Myers to a 3-0 start and a No. 10 national ranking. Pickett was named the biggest sleeper signee in the SEC by HoopSeen.com and chose Ole Miss over Arizona State, Creighton, Pittsburgh, Rhode Island and South Carolina. "Jamarko is a long, athletic, versatile forward who can shoot the three, create off the bounce and protect the basket," Kennedy said. "He a prime example of a kid being completely under the radar to blowing up with a strong showing on the AAU circuit in July. With added strength, his skill set is going to allow him to do big things at Ole Miss."

Steal. My old college teammate coached him last season and all he could do was tell me about how much of a steal he was! Great job Hoyas... This turned into a solid class. Bright future!
