Just thinking about the huge impact Pryor had in the area of scoring and, also how fortunate we were to have him. I would be curious to hear your thoughts on how we even begin to fill his shoes going forward.

It may be unfair to compare the frosh to Pryor, but they both will contribute.

I think Mosley is going to take a step forward offensively. Blair has also been a pleasant surprise thus far in Kenner, here's hoping he can keep that fire up into the season.

Mosely certainly is looking to score on most possessions this summer. Who knows if he will play like this in the regular season. But he is attacking the basket off the dribble very aggressively in Kenner games, and has consistently been putting up 20-25 points per game. I could envision him scoring 15 points or so a game this year, though not particularly efficiently (e.g. missing a lot of shots along the way).

It would be awesome (and maybe a GU record) if Mosley jumped from 4.2 ppg to 15 ppg, but keep in mind that in the last decade the only guards who put up 15 ppg or more were Pryor (gr.), Peak (only as a jr), Freeman (as a jr and sr), CW (as a jr), Starks (as a sr) and DSR (as a so, jr, and sr). IIRC, all made one of the BE post season all-league teams. On EDIT: I had to check. Charles Smith went from 6.7 ppg to 15.7 from soph to junior year.

But I do think Mosely is set up to be our leading shot taker/scorer - if only because he may be the only guy on the team consistently capable of creating a shot for himself by attacking the basket off the dribble. If mosely scores well this year it will be just as much a function of the flaws of the rest of the team as of his own improvement.

No one on this team will score like Pryor or Peak. I agree. This year's team is going to have to score by committee. I think both Jessie and Marcus are capable of having big nights where they could get 20+, but neither is explosive enough to consistently score at a high level if the other team focuses their defense on them. They both had games last year where they had big nights but that was a function of other teams focusing on stopping Peak and Pryor, leaving those guys, and other players, with some open looks. The hope if that they can find 3 -4 guys who can average close to 10 points a game and then have the role players fill in with enough scoring to keep them in games. Scoring off of their defense and in transition is going to be key for the Hoyas until they can bring in some more dynamic offensive players

Jamarko Pickett and I'm not kidding. he will be the closest thing game wise to Rodney in a Hoyas uniform. We are very fortunate to have landed him and there is now a glimmer of hope on next year.

Wow! Forget replacing Pryor--which I don't think he will--the kid is a crucial piece for this program at this crucial stage.

I think Marcus and Govan will lead the way. I am expecting a much more aggressive MD this year! Don't know what happened last year. He was a load when he played at Paul VI and seemed to regress. It's a matter of attitude and desire to lead. That will be really important this year...the dogs are off of the leash!! No more underachievement.

Yes, it is a team game, and we will need all of the players to contribute. I want all of the players to be assertive and aggressive. I believe things are really moving in the right direction.

This is what's been f ing our minds up every year depending on one person instead of a TEAM!!! WAKE UP!!! Glide, While we know it is a team game, we were talking mainly point production, here, breaking down the individual parts of the team and trying to speculate about who on this current team or on the team that we are building had the potential to fit into the team structure like Rodney did. Rodney may not have saved the day for us--no one was expecting that he alone could make the difference. However, you would have to admit Rodney was a capable shooter who contributed significantly to the team thereby allowing us to have a so-so season. I would hate to watch many of those games last year if it wasn't Rodney shot making ability. There were several games where he made the difference, may have even bailed us out. It was in this vein that we were speculating on who we saw as the most likely candidate to fill his shoes. That's all. Your point is well taken, but please allow for some of us to do what we do on this board, that is fun-speculate. DID YOU HAVE TO GET SO MAD ABOUT IT--Jeffrey Osbourbe
