That's what I call a FULL COURT PRESS! But I thought that Patrick hates recruiting and does not like to fold his seven foot frame into an airplane seat?

He'd play great with Carter and them competing for a a few years would only help both guys. Hopefully we can get a verbal during his time on campus. 2017 is a trial year, 2018 we need a full roster of guys that can compete and Pat will let them...Fleming would be a great second piece to the roster and would surely anchor our frontcourt for a few years with Carter.

Patrick Ewing made a stop at Canton High School Tuesday in hopes of recruiting one of the top high school power forwards in the state to Georgetown University.
Ewing, a retired Hall of Fame basketball player and current head coach of the Georgetown Hoyas, was at the high school to recruit senior Javian Fleming.
The former New York Knicks, Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic player graciously took time to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans.
After meeting with fans, Ewing talked with Javian Fleming and his mother. Fleming has over 20 offers from universities around the country and has narrowed his top choices down to five schools, including Georgetown.
“I want to be a player who has an impact. I want to be a player who touches the ball. I want to be a player who is a leader,” said Fleming. He added that all the schools like his versatility.

Well he cancelled A&M this weekend, so he could sneak in for a covert visit tomorrow?

Well he cancelled A&M this weekend, so he could sneak in for a covert visit tomorrow? Why does it need to be covert? I can't find any info stating he moved his visit date up to this weekend..

I guess i have to concede that Bates is thr better "talent" and would have of course loved him but I have soft spot for Fleming. His offensive game seems very advanced.
Come to Gtown!

From watching the highlights it looks like Bates was the better athlete, but Fleming is the more advanced basketball player at this point. Either would have been a great addition but it didn't work out with Bates so lets hope they can close the deal on Fleming.

Some additional pics of Pat's visit with Javian here: www.cantonschools.net/site/default.aspx?PageType=3&DomainID=4&ModuleInstanceID=132&ViewID=6446EE88-D30C-497E-9316-3F8874B3E108&RenderLoc=0&FlexDataID=1777&PageID=1Patrick Ewing Visits CHS The ball is in Javian Fleming's court as former NBA superstar Patrick Ewing makes a visit to CHS in hopes of closing the deal. Excitement was in the air as Patrick Ewing, retired Hall of Fame basketball player and current head coach of Georgetown Hoyas, was in town to recruit Canton High's Javian Fleming, the top big man in the state. Word spread like a wildfire that the former NBA New York Knicks superstar was in the building. He graciously took time to sign autographs an...d take photos with his admiring fans. After that, he got down to business and met with Javian Fleming and his mother. Fleming, a Senior 6'9" Power Forward has over 20 offers from schools around the country. He has narrowed his choices down to five. They include: Georgetown, Alabama, Iowa State, TCU, and Texas A&M. Fleming says all of the schools like his versatility. "I don't want to be a player that comes to a school for decoration. I want to be a player that has an impact. I want to be a player that touches the ball. I want to be a player that is a leader," says Fleming. Ewing brought a few of his of coaches with him hoping to help him soon add Fleming to his lineup, but for now only time will tell as Fleming continues to meet with teams and weigh his options. Ewing played in the NCAA Championship Game three times while he played center for Georgetown. He was selected as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. Ewing won Olympic gold medals in 1984 and 1992. He is also a two-time inductee into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Ewing was also inducted into the U.S Olympic Hall of Fame as a member of the "Dream Team." Ewing also played briefly with the Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic. His number 33 was retired by the Knicks in 2003.
