Is there any type of special date he is waiting for? Maybe announce on his birthday? Or maybe, like a previous poster noted, he is just waiting until the early signing period so he can sign the LOI when he announces and then have it completely behind him. Although the way things go these days it doesn't seem like a LOI keeps kids from changing their minds. The staff seems to have put a lot of effort into this player so I hope it works out. He seems to be a player who can consistently score the ball and the Hoyas need some of those players. I question his athleticism and conditioning a little but it sounds like Coach Ewing is doing a great job getting kids into shape so I the staff must feel they can do that with Fleming. Guess we will find out soon enough.

I know nothing about this situation and each is different, obviously. But it doesn't seem like kids ever pick Georgetown, the longer it takes for them to announce the decision.

Study in Lauinger or hang out with coeds in a hot tub? The longer you sit on that decision the more time your libido has to work over your brain.

I could have him mixed up with LeBlanc but I believe one of them has a birthday On Nov 12th. And I was thinking fleming is the one that is announcing on Nov 12th...
Keep in mind that the early signing period is Nov 8th-15th...

Colour me skeptical when a recruit is down to two schools, and one of them was recently caught up in the largest recruiting scandal in recent memory. It may mean something and it may mean nothing. But dirty shady activity will always continue to be an issue.

Update: the tweet/article is down, so looks like it was a mistaken post. CasualHoya is reporting a Fleming commitment to the Hoyas: t.co/fajAuBs4Y6(Though there's a fair amount of inaccuracy in the article, so I wonder if it's one they had in the tank, to pop as soon as there's news).

Explosive power forward Javian Fleming has remained stuck on the final pairing of Georgetown and Alabama for more than a month, though a commitment date has now been set – Friday.
Here's a breakdown of the finalists in the race for Fleming.
CLASS OF 2018 RANKINGS: Rivals150 | Team
ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE
Article Continues Below NEED SCALE: 6
QUOTE: “I like Alabama because of where they are headed. I like the way they improve every year as a team and as a program. The Alabama staff is a big thing that I like, too, because they remain in contact with me so much with their calls and texts. We have a great relationship.”
HOW HE FITS: The Tide’s biggest need remains in the backcourt as they could lose both star freshmen, Collin Sexton and John Petty, after this season to the NBA. They do hold the commitment of Rivals150 guard Jared Butler, which should ease the losses of each. There is always a need for an interior enforcer in the mold of Fleming as the Tide, despite a fairly strong frontcourt, did a great job of prioritizing early on. Daniel Giddens, a former top-50 prospect and Ohio State transfer, should emerge in the post this season as he restarts his college eligibility. Fleming would have the chance to learn the ropes from him before taking on a greater role as he matures in Tuscaloosa.
GEORGETOWN HOYAS
NEED SCALE: 8
QUOTE: “I like coach (Patrick) Ewing and the fact that they are a big school. Coach Ewing has a lot of stuff that he can teach me. I like their staff, which is kind of an older one but one that has played some in the NBA and also one that has been around a long time, too.”
HOW HE FITS?: Two years from now, the frontcourt holes will be glaring. Long-time starters Jessie Govan and Marcus Derrickson will have exhausted their college eligibility, creating ample opportunities for Fleming. A throwback post, Fleming would not be asked to contribute a lot as a freshman but could evolve into a major weapon alongside committed forwards Grayson Carter and Josh LeBlanc from his sophomore year on.

We all know that recruiting is unpredictable but choosing Bama with the cloud hanging over that program would be truly nutty. No inside info but I have to believe we get him.

Fwiw rumors are everywhere that he's already told Ewing and staff he's going to be a Hoya. Will see how true they are...

This would explain the casual article. May have told Ewing already and it leaked but casual pulled it since Fleming wanted to announce it himself.

My guess is he told Avery who wanted to give him one last pitch. Bama doesn't make sense on so many levels, but I'm not a high schooler.

I don't have any inside info here but If a kid just had an in-home with Pat and announced the day after he's set his commitment date, I would feel pretty good about our chances....

Did he have a recent in home visit by Coach Ewing? A previous entry in this trail mentioned that Alabama/Coach Avery visited yesterday. Glad things are moving...still hoping he chooses us.
