Any view of a Hoyas' practice is worth a look. I may sign up for Snapchat just to get a peak. Times--they are a' changing.

Interesting looking at his snapchat. Several videos of the coaching staff running him through drills. Never really thought about that going on on visits. You think of them playing pick up with the team, but never occurred to me the coaching staff might run recruits through drills. Seems like a good idea. You get to see what the recruit can do like an NBA work out but also shows the kid the coaching you provide and what it would be like to be in the program. What's snapchat? and could someone post it here?

It's the most casual of the social media platforms. I love it (and have snapped every day this year) because they are just quick snippets (that are easily editable) that you just share with friends. Alstork is giving a TON of updates, and really knows how to tell a good story using it.

It looks like they had him doing dribbling and shooting drills until 11:30 PM at night. Patrick Ewing has no chill.

The one thing I know so far from Mr. Alstork's treatment of his Georgetown and Pitt visits is that he would make a great politician-- he knows how to lavish some praise on both sides of an issue! But seriously, seems like a great get. Hope we can stay in contention. Think he could be an immediate impact player for us, and the minutes are there for the taking. Hope he enjoyed a picture perfect day in DC.

I like how thru this we see alot of what goes on now. So far I like how Pat shpws the recruits a workout under him, an open run next day. A professional presentarion on why you should come here and a tour. Other than the strippers like Louisville, he pretty much did what any other school would do. So he has got alot done in a short time to perfect the pitch plus being a top recruit that left home to come here he has a good perspective on what works.

Pitt is now returning exactly two scholarship players, since Rozelle Nix just announced he's leaving. That's six departures so far. I think Mark will see that our situation is far preferable.

I have to say, as someone who has been critical of the program at times for trying to live in the 80s and shut out as much of the outside world as possible, it's been cool to see behind the curtain a little bit into an official. I hope it's a sign that Coach Ewing is more tolerant of social media than the Thompsons (assuming he knows that Alstork is snapping all this).
Playing pick up on visits is pretty commonplace from what I know, but I've never really heard of a team running a guy through ballhandling drills on an official. I suppose it makes some sense though, for both sides--team can see what the player can do, and player can see what their coaching is like and get some advice regardless of whether he decides to attend (sort of like an underclassman declaring for the draft and getting input from NBA teams regardless of whether or not he stays in).
Here's hoping it pans out, as I think Alstork would be a huge help next year.

Visit is over as Alstork, his mother and brother boarded their flight was his last snap.
I will say this, I'm somewhat shocked and happy that Coach Ewing Sr. has accepted and one could argue embraced letting his recruits using social media to document inside their visit. First it was Nahziah Carter and now Mark Alstork documenting their visit on social media. Coach Ewing could have easily said no we don't do that here and been the type coach who buts heads with recruits about social media. Especially Ewing considering he is a very famous and successful former athlete who might want full privacy as he navigates being a 1st time Head Coach. Instead it seems he has gone the other direction. I'm sure there are some aspects of the visit he tells them not to post on social media but so far Coach Ewing has been very open with the media and allowing his recruits to document their interactions and events during their visit. It will go along way with this generation of recruits.
