happy b-day AI. The real question is: what is AI wishing for this year when he blows out the candles?

Will Allen go down as the best to never win a title?
If I were him, I'd be wishing for a time machine to go back in time and grab the GOOD Chris Webber.

I didn't realize there is such a thing as "the Good Chris Webber"?? The guy is and always has been a bum and I can't wait to see him BEG his way out of Philly next year---he's the Jason Giambi of NBA right now--washed up and eats up your cap with a huge salary. Only difference is Webber is an athlete who didn't CHEAT via Roids to get his money--he just cheated his talent.
My Birthday Wish for AI is for him to get out of Philly ASAP--I don't care what it takes--or for Billy King to get fired. This Mo Cheeks hiring is a nightmare and he'll be no better than Jim O'Brien who I thought was wrongly fired. He did job of improving the team, got the best out of his star player and team improved in Wins and by making Playoffs--so for this he gets fired? Gotta love the NBA.

I was very upset over the firing of O'Brien. Mo Cheeks isn't going to do any better except keep CWebb and Dalembert happy. Billy King makes the Redskins' front office look great in comparison.
Happy birthday, AI. Or should I say Happy Groundhog Day? Because once again you are about to embark upon a season in which you play with a collection of players who are not quite good enough to help you get over the top. And that will lead once again to members of the media and fans blaming it all on you as if you were surrounded with Phoenix Suns' like talent only to squander any chance of winning the whole thing. Sounds like a fun gig. Here's a bit of advice: next time you travel to Minnesota with the Sixers flee the team's plane and seek asylum. RDF may not like this idea but I would love to see you alongside a non broken down star like KG.

Wonder what AI is thinking right now while he is getting ready to watch the finals. Wonder if he is thinking of what could have been if Geiger would have waived the no trade kicker in his contract allowing Stackhouse to go to Philly and AI to become a Piston.

AI is probably having a good time somewhere with his friends and family. I'm sure he is fed up with Philly. He is okay for now because of Cheeks' hiring, but the ish will hit the fan next year. He went to the "the worst" GM Billy King during the middle of the year and said "get some real players instead of scrubs on this team, or trade me". Its going to be worst in Philly next year. Its going to be Randy Ayers part 2 in Philly. Mo Cheeks is a nice and classy guy who is an average coach at best. If Mo Cheeks thinks Darius Miles was hard to deal with and Portland walked all over him, he hasn't seen nothing yet with Chris Webber.
I wouldn't want to see AI with KG as a duo because KG has no heart. You saw how far Minnesota went in the playoffs when they had Cassell AND Sprewell playing well last season. This season they didn't play as well and Minnesota didn't make the playoffs. So much for the impact of the "franchise" player KG. AI would still need a clutch type player with him before I would say he could play with KG. I'd rather see AI with a Rasheed Wallace. Rasheed can lose his cool sometimes, but he will step up in big games, can actually defend big men in the paint, can score inside or out, and he can run the floor on the fast break.
But back to the original topic, happy belated Birthday to AI. I wish that you one day play with a legit and competitive starting four and have a competent GM.

AI is still the leading scorer in the NBA playoffs.

AI is still the leading scorer in the NBA playoffs. And yet yesteday on ESPN Shoot Around Mark Jackson mistakenly said Amare Stoudemire was the leading scorer in the NBA playoffs which ticked me off. I think AI is first in scoring at 31 points and second in assists with 10 per game. And despite this some of the writers in Philly and Delaware seem to think it was Iverson's fault that the team didn't go far and the reason for Webber's struggling. I also love the complaints by the media that he dribbles too much. Nash is easily more of a pure pg but he dribbles the ball even more than Iverson and no one complains. And considering that AI finished fifth in the league during the regular season in assists who is to say he couldn't have been #1 if he had the explosive scorers and shooters that Nash had with Phoenix?

Nash is easily more of a pure pg but he dribbles the ball even more than Iverson and no one complains. This baffles me. I have never understood what a "pure" point guard is. To me, either you can play the point guard position or you can't. This "pure" crap is for the birds. Oscar Robertson, Gary Payton, Isiah Thomas, and Magic Johnson were not "pure" point guards. Yet all were or will be Hall of Famers. If they ONLY passed the ball to maintain their "pureness", they wouldn't have been the players they were nor would their respective teams have had the same success. If AI had the talent around him like Nash had, you would see better stats, the same amount of team success or even more. AI is such a great player and has an array of basketball skills that playing "dirty" as oppose to "pure" maximizes his talents that can help his team win. The problem with AI is not his problem. He has never had a chance to run an offense because he IS the offense. Kind of like Michael Vick or Donavan McNabb. Its the same stupid argument. The fact that they are mobile QB's does not make them "less pure", it makes them better, creates another dimension on offense, and makes their teams better. The same goes with AI. You provide options to AI, he will dish out and set up teammates. AI did that this year only for the likes of Iugodala, Korver, Marc Jackson, Samuel Dalembert and other teammates to brick shots, miss layups under the basket, drop passes, or turn the ball over.

I am probably the biggest Suns fan out there. And Amare is like my life, and I love Nash, and even though I am a Georgetown fan, I thought that AI deserved the MVP. We are forgetting the meaning of MVP- not totally the best player, but most valuable to his team. Yes we were 2-4 without Nash, but we were 0-2 without Amare also. But, look at what AI does for the 76ers. He is the reason for the offense moving. He keeps the team going and he averages in the 8's for assists every game and this is without a strong team. He did everything in his power to keep the 76ers going and he deserved the MVP, even if he did not get that far in the playoffs this year.
