The news of Patrick Ewing III, being named head coach is the final nail in the coffin. This program and those in charge are in a perpetual state of wanting to re-live the past, rather than move into the future. The 80s ARE NOT COMING BACK !!! Its time to move on !!! The nepotism, favoritism, and short sighted selection that is used to guide this program has moved us from a national powerhouse to the absolute disappointed of the BE. JT2's legacy has been reduced to a curse and mark my words, in three to four years we will be discussing how to get rid of the latest Thompson prodigal son. I no longer have the heart to watch a once proud BB powerhouse continue its demise to a ridiculous, laughable, excuse for a team just to benefit the "legacy" of one family that no one remembers or cares about. This was an opportunity to once again get on the right track, but we choose to continue down the dp same failed route. I'm done. Until the Thompson CURSE is lifted.......

With how toxic and negative the atmosphere around the program had become at the end of the season, I am looking forward to some positivity and optimism around here, so good luck to you in your future endeavors as a sports fan. I really don't get this whole line of thinking. Yes the last couple of seasons have been rough, but as a whole the JT3 hire was generally a success and the university was able to move on when it felt like it was necessary.

This is ridiculous. Yes Ewing was part of our past but both we and him have quite the future ahead of us. Hopefully it will be successful for both of us. Realistically, will he turn into Roy Williams or Coach K? Most likely not...but hopefully he will bring an attitude back to the program, along with bigs that want to dominate the court like their size should allow.

I hope Pat proves us wrong and leads us back to the promised land.
but that is IF he can prove us wrong, and that is a big IF.
it seems like we cannot move forward and always to live in the past created by so-called the great legacy from Pops

I understand why you are upset about how the search process was conducted The coaches I have spoken to have stated the program is in a serious rebuilding mode Current guards lack consistent jump shots and the ability to get to the rim on a consistent basis and cannot create for other players. Front court players lack a back to the basket game and consistency to clean the glass The program is at a cross roads with competing for last place with DePaul and St. Johns in the Big East this past season Make no mistake the foundation of the program has to be rebuilt and Ewing knows that but can he rebuild it remains to be seen This is easily a 2 year process

I am not optimistic about how this is going to play out, and would have preferred that we take a different direction (but not Tommy Amaker). That said, to characterize the Thompson legacy as a curse is preposterous, bordering on lunacy.
