Okay, I give up. Three years ago this Board couldn't wait for the our incoming Bigs, MD and Govan, to lead us to glory. They will be leaving with (as pointed out in another thread) never having played in an NCAA or NIT tourney game and with a BE record 20 games under 500. Yes JT3 surrounded them with what turned out to be a terrible supporting cast. And yes they never had the talent to be "Dominant Big Men". But meanwhile the rest of the BE was loading up on the kind of players more suited to the modern game and one BE team was actually redefining how to play the modern game. All I'm asking is that we stop fixating on PE and what he brought to the program and focus instead on what we really need to be competitive going forward. And that is athletic, 6'0-6'9 players who can play D, shoot 40% from 3, dribble penetrate, rebound, pass and ball handle. If we get lucky enough to find a Big who can do all that great. But I'm sick and tired of us looking like saps while smaller, quicker players run rings around our Bigs, light us up from 3, and generally dominate the last 3 minutes of our games. It was 34 years ago when we won our last national championship. Unlike you youngsters I can't wait that long to see another. So humor me. Let me seem "pretty silly" if it means we put a team on the court that looks like it really understands how today's game is played. I mean, you can't really say you would prefer Eric Paschell over Patrick Ewing circa 80's, on a Georgetown board no less, and not expect to be beaten over the head with the stupidity of the comment? Say it on the Nova board and I'm sure you would also be told what an insane stance that is. Say it to Eric Paschell and I am sure you will, again, be told how insane that statement is. You can make the argument we need to play smaller without being absurd. And to correct you, even three years ago most on this board were well aware we needed guards to make teams with MD and Govan on them successful. By that point even III knew that, he was just having trouble fixing the issue.

I am not one of those youngsters you are referring to, but it does seem silly to construct an argument--or even remotely suggest such a thing--on the premise that you don't need Patrick Ewing type players in the modern college game. He probably would not be as looming and valuable to the team as he was back then, but he would definitely be sought after. That's all I am saying.

With Govan and Derrickson leaving, I could see Trey Mourning and Walker starting along side Pickett, McClung, Mosley/Blair

With Govan and Derrickson leaving, I could see Trey Mourning and Walker starting along side Pickett, McClung, Mosley/Blair I hope I’m not missing something but there’s no indication Govan is leaving, right? I know he’s testing the waters but don’t see any news of hiring an agent. If he does, though, what you suggest is possible given we’d have such a thin frontcourt. Obviously, if Yurtseven is immediately eligible he will likely start in such a scenario.

They will ask around 65+ players and roughly 60 will attend. The top tier players sometimes don't go. I won't say anything about Jessie leaving until I see who was invited. Then we can see where he ranks if he's invited. Until that point, here's what I can say. I have not seen Jessie's name on any nba mock draft or the top 100 draft prospect list from basketball insiders. However, I don't see Marcus's name their either. I'd expect him to return but I also am still baffled Derrickson left. I don't know his specific situation which is very important.

I don’t see him in the top-100 either. He is listed as #25 PG. Mac at #41 PG. Common, McClung would feast on many of these dudes above him.

Akinjo was ranked 97th by ESPN at the time of him signing with the Hoyas, but all of the major sources (ESPN, 247, Rivals) updated their rankings later that week with the end of the high school seasons and Akinjo's ranking changed in all of them. ESPN #97 to outside of the top 100 Rivals #113 to #68 247Sports #106 to #111 247Sports Composite #95 to #85

Is this the Trey Mourning thread? Excellent question! I keep hoping that when I come to this thread there is a the latest word on Trey! Yep, same. Many of those who don't quite understand basics of basketball also can read the header of threads to figure out what should be talked about in that thread. None of this stops people from posting. All in the "fun" of a Hoyas forum. ;-)

You're saying Trey supposedly has 2 years of basketball eligibility after this current school year ends (if it hasn't already)? Please answer only with YES or NO.

Unless that means that he is currently a senior (finishing his senior year) but is a junior in terms of eligibility since he has one more year after not playing this past year. At least that's how I would have interpreted it.

That would mean he could complete 2 years of grad school while still playing. Some sort or waiver would have to be in play here.

Could he have two (senior and freshman year) medical waivers? If so, that would be odd but given his PT, he probably should have been redshirted freshman year straight away.
