FWIW, Towns had the knee surgery last year.

I had never seen this kid play before. He is really athletic and very active. He could definitely fill a role next year for the Hoyas

I don't disagree that post players are not the biggest need, but finding and experienced post guy who can help for one year would make them a better team next year, opposed to depending heavily on a lot of young unproven players.

Get him and his teammate Mike Smith.

I like his skill set. In terms of fit, it's not perfect, but I kind of like it in that maybe Pat wants someone a little more polished offensively to go behind Q (if he thinks Tim/Malcolm will still need some time to develop their moves). Especially if it's only a one-year commitment
He also looks athletic enough to get some minutes at the 4 to spell Pickett when we go bigger. Would prefer this rather than the potential UMD transfers, personally

If improving his educational resume is a priority, then Georgetown does make sense. If basketball is the deciding factor, then all of them could be in play.

Georgetown as a finishing school for Ivy League grads? I'm ok with this.

A guy like Tape would be great to help us bridge the gap from Omer to the young centers. Q has shown a lot of promise and I'm bullish on the long-term potential of Tim and Malcolm as well, but we're losing a lot of production from Yurt and it's going to be tough for guys with the overall experience of the current freshmen to step right in and replace that next year. Somebody with a little more seasoning like Tape buys them a little more time to develop further. They'd still get plenty of minutes and be an important part of the team, but we wouldn't need to count on them quite as much. I think a grad transfer big makes a lot of sense from that perspective. It isn't quite as essential as a grad transfer point guard, but would be helpful--and we have plenty of room for both.
And I'd agree that Tape looks to be mobile enough to play the 4 spot next to another big guy like Q, if that's what the rest of the roster dictated. If it worked out we might start a lineup with McClung at 2, Pickett at 3, Tape at 4 and Wahab at 5 with Blair as a 6th man, or we might go a little smaller with McClung and Blair as 2 guards in a 3 guard lineup, Pickett at 4 like this year and Tape at 5.
Guys like Tape and Towns are what we need to bounce back from the 4 defections of the last few weeks. There's sure to be a lot of competition for both and for guys like them, but we can offer a lot of playing time, a reasonable supporting cast, and a graduate degree that's of a high enough quality to be worth taking seriously. I think there'll be a vibrant grad transfer market (not to mention late bloomer and decommit '20 guys), which is why I don't think we need to panic quite yet about next year's roster. Best case scenario would be that Ewing's cred with big men helps us to land a quality grad transfer big like Tape, and then a grad transfer point guard sees a starting spot on a high major team with a pretty good top-to-bottom roster around him and jumps at the chance. From there, we can augment the roster as makes sense (especially at the 2-4 positions) with other transfers, grad transfers and high school seniors.

Get him and his teammate Mike Smith. Mike Smith? Isn't he too old and short? On the plus side, he could regale everyone with stories about his rides on Justify and Zenyatta.

Another Ivy League player who'll be a grad transfer is Jordan Bruner from Yale. 6'9" averaging 12 points, 9 boards this season.

Bruner looked really good inside against UNC and is someone who can play. He's also developing an outside shot and is more of a 4 at the BE level in my eyes. He can play inside like a small ball 5, which could work too. These Ivy League guys are going to be very good in other places. Hope Ewing can get at least one of them.

I still think former Ivy League POY Seth Towns is someone the staff needs to look at. I think he could really help. These guys will help. Hopefully some good news comes soon.

You can always count on Ewing’s PR machine to leak their flowery spin through his personal attaché, ex-Knick beat writer Jon Rothstein. With Saint johns Coming up and Ewing struggling expect some sort of puff piece this week.
