Sad day for the Hoyas basketball program.
Not because we will have a new coach; it was obvious that a change in leadership was needed. I had hoped that JTIII would take accountability for the collapse of the program, resign and rebuild his reputation at a new job on his own terms. But after the relative triumph of salvaging the new Big East from the ashes of the football-driven meltdown, I really never thought we would be here a few years later: the millstone around the conference's neck, our fanbase in revolt, and even the possibility that our university president was unwilling to deal with the need for a change. I know I got really tired of watching close games and basically expecting to lose.
Whoever the new coach is, I hope he will restore excitement to the program, and bring a style of play that works under the new NCAA rules, which really seemed to bedevil JTIII more than anything. And I hope that JTIII will find success in his next job, along with the rest of his staff.

I am thinking it's Ewing. That hire does not excite me. Should have made this move weeks ago and tried to get Keatts. Would Dooley leave Providence for this job?

Best of luck to JT3 in his future endeavors.
Now to the future of Georgetown! Hope we have an thorough search and do not just go with the easy option.

Frank Martin would be an interesting choice. Has built USC from the bottom, was successful at KSU. Tough, hard nosed kids, preaches defense.

I want to say thank you to many of the vocal members of this board. The groundswell of support for a change, pushed by many here, is what got us this potential chance to resurrect our beloved program. When most of our fans had tuned out over the past couple years, you guys, and you know who you are, dialed in. This would not have happened without the fan involvement. So, as a diehard Hoya fan, I thank you.

"If Georgetown stays in the family, Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Patrick Ewing makes the most sense. If outside, Hoyas should make a run at Harvard's Tommy Amaker."...ESPN Andy Katz

Hearing Amaker from the inside I would be unalterably opposed to a Duke retread.

Don't know the last time that many people were on this board.

So, as a diehard Hoya fan, I thank you. It wasn't the "groundswell of support" that got JT3 fired. Both the President & AD were firmly behind keeping JT3. It was the Board seeing the downfall of "Georgetown basketball". Tremont Waters wanting his release & players possibly transferring was the final straw for the Board. The Board overruled the President & AD and fired JT3.

Amaker? Gross.
What could possibly be the appeal of a guy whose last major job ended with 6 years of not a single NCAA appearance.
Give me a break....
