From other thread: My list wasn't scientific or even well thought out. The kid from Wright State can straight fill it at guard but I heard he is a bit of a head case. Not in a bad way just that he overthinks what he is doing at times. Should be on him as a grad transfer. Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Pitt will play host to Wright State transfer Mark Alstork on May 5 for an official visit; immediately eligible in the fall FWIW, I saw a tweet today from Justin Kinner (@1410kinner) that Ewing has reached out to Alstork. Edit - Here it is:

Alstork stats read as a high volume, high turnover guy. Has anyone actually seen him play? Is his game transferable to high major? Only highish major team Wright State played last year was Penn State, and he was 3 of 18 shooting with 1 assist in a 22 point loss.

To be fair Pryor was pretty inefficient at Robert Morris, but he was quite efficient at Georgetown.

Here are his highlights from the year:
In general a season's statistics probably tell the entirety of the story better than a highlight real does. And I don't think Stork is Rodney Pryor. But these grad transfer guys are such good deals, especially given our scholarship situation. There's very little downside to giving a guy like Stork a shot if you can get him to commit (which seems manageable given that we just lost our starting SG and SF and have no obvious replacement for either). The only reasons I could see for NOT taking a guy like this are a) he's got some sort of serious issue off the court or projects as a bad locker room influence or b) you think there's another grad transfer at the same position who is better and can be persuaded to come, but would look elsewhere if Stork is on board. The odds of either of those being true seem fairly low to me, just intuitively. So I think a guy like this could make a lot of sense as we look to bridge the gap until Patrick and staff start to bring in a team of their own high school recruits in 2018 and beyond.

He's going to get plenty of attention... Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Big weekend for VCU as they will host top Rice transfer Marcus Evans for an official visit, per source; Miami & Arizona also involved Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Along with having Marcus Evans on campus, VCU is hosting Virginia grad-transfer Darius Thompson today for an unofficial visit, per source

Alstork stats read as a high volume, high turnover guy. Has anyone actually seen him play? Is his game transferable to high major? Only highish major team Wright State played last year was Penn State, and he was 3 of 18 shooting with 1 assist in a 22 point loss. Alstork's effiency rating on offense was 98.8 - not great, but when you look at his usage, it's a ridiculous 34.7% of all possessions! That's incredibly high and way higher than anybody would likely have in our offense. You can see where his ineffiency comes from - he shot threes at 38.4%, but shot way too many twos and only at 40.6%. That tells me that there might be some good potential for him to greatly increase his efficiency simply by being more selective. If I were coaching him, I would have him focus on threes (if he can shoot close to 40% that alone would make him valuable) and discourage him from taking bad twos. While I have not seen video of him, it's virtually impossible to shoot so many twos, and only hit 40.6% of them if you're taking good shots. So, cut down on the bad shots, and focus more on threes. He also got to the line pretty frequently, and shot FTs at a high rate of 84.1%. I think there's a good bit of potential there. As a comparison, in Rodney Pryor's last year at Robert Morris, his efficiency was 100.9 at 29.4% usage, and this year he was at 112.1 at 23.6% usage. The real key for Alstork would be to make sure he's no longer high volume.

You think we could use a strong, smart and skilled big? Takes charges. Rare for a big especially in the post on a consistent basis. Rebound and passing on point.

Might as well make a thread to keep all possible targets and news in one place. I'll start out: Rice has a 6'5" small forward Egor Koulechov who can grad transfer who averaged 18.2pts and 8.9rebs on 47%/47%/82% splits. Thanks for posting. Koulechov really does look like a Pryor, Part II. His offensive efficiency is 117+, plus his three point shooting is 45.8%. Plus he's a great defensive rebounder. If I were the staff, I would be on him immediately. Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Rice grad-transfer Egor Koulechov will take an official visit to Iowa State on Thursday, per source; already visited Oklahoma & Florida

That's why you don't use highlight videos to evaluate players.

It's also why you don't use stats to recruit either. Plenty of JUCO all americans who didn't do squat in college. Not saying he'd be good for GU tho.
