Discuss.
I would hate to be a fan of both teams right now. Is anyone both a Hoyas and Arsenal supporter?

Does Wenger's dad own Arsenal and still shadow coach the team?

Would like the comp better if JTIII won a few NCAA Tourneys.

Arsene has at least won several EPL cups (the actual highest level of comps)/FA cups . As far as JT3, not so much.

Wenger is more of a JTII comparison - brought the club to prominence with some excellent seasons, but eventually lost his energy and his interest in "recruiting" transfers, just figured the Arsenal name would be enough. Very slowly walking back his legacy. As a Spurs fan, desperately hoping this is finally the year that St. Totteringham's Day never comes.

No one loses quite as beatuifully and full of as many platitudes as both. The worst part is doing the doubles when they come of watching Arsenal crap the bed at 7am or 930 and following it with a soul crushing Hoyas loss at noon. Really sets a tone for the weekend... EDIT: oh, and to respond to the thread both are presently clueless and stuck in the past when they used to both be forward thinking and innovative...

Very similar.
Also - sounds like Wenger has decided to step away.
Perhaps a good omen?

Very similar. Also - sounds like Wenger has decided to step away. Perhaps a good omen? Could be provided the replacement is capable. It worked out well in the long run, but can't forget that this club's last manager search was to pluck Wenger out of relative obscurity. Top-flight European soccer is interesting in that you really can turn things around year-to-year with the right manager and right mix. Few sports are like that where you can take close to the same roster and with just a few tweaks in style and management, turn a poor campaign into a title chase, just look at Chelsea this year. Most other sports usually require wholesale changes or incremental improvement where the year after is an "Oh, there's promise there" and then the year after comes the success. Arsenal is undeniably a talented squad, they've got talented players at a number of positions and there's no reason they shouldn't have been a top-4 side, and certainly aren't as bad as a 10-2 thrashing by Bayern suggests. In that regard, they are much closer to our current Hoyas than they might seem. Talent and athletics wise, this was not a 14-18 squad, and I'm not totally convinced that with a few tweaks and maybe a different voice and style that the same group of players wouldn't be playing right now. Nonetheless, Arsenal is home from UCL in March... again. The Hoyas are not playing meaningful basketball after St. Paddy's day... again. Some things never change I suppose...

Chelsea is not a good example though because the players basically quit on Mourinho forcing him out. It's very similar to the way Lebron and friends quit on David Blatt in order to get Tyrone Lue installed except that didn't take a whole season to turn around.

Another one here. Both are currently miserable experiences. I'm working with the Hoyas and the Washington pro football team - this is the worst possible mix. No close second.

Never met an Eagles fan I guess. 1960 and counting... PS their futility is one of the great joys I still have in sports...

Pains me to say it, but the eagles have been a pretty respectable franchise in the recent past and they seem pretty well run. I do enjoy their title drought though - love lording it over the few (obnoxious) philly fans I know. Hoyas/Browns probably takes the cake. Those poor people.

Add the Indians into that mix; last World Series win was in 1948. If it weren't for the Cavaliers, northern Ohio Hoyas could be suicidal.
