Roy Danforth, Boeheim's immediate predecessor, left Syracuse after the 1976 season to accept the head coaching position at Tulane, because he thought he'd have more success there than at Syracuse.
That's right. He chose Tulane, arguably a more prestigious academic school, over Syracuse, to have a better shot at success on the basketball court. Chew on that thought for a few moments.

I wonder if he can pick his nose with both hands... Now I get the 5 year extension. Holding on until the next Magoo can take over. Sympathies for the poor ref who dares to call a foul on Little Magoo. He will hear it in stereo.

Wonder if this is why Mike Hopkins bailed for Washington. The specter of coaching Buddy Boeheim with his father chirping into Hopkins's ear was probably too much to bear.
