Got the stream working-had to disable my anti-ad/tracker plug-ins to do it. I can't believe Dodson's chance or the rebound opportunity didn't give us the winner after SMU equalized, but to extra time we go. 20 minutes to find a winner before we resort to the coin flip.

SMU goal, 2-1. Winner came with 14.4 seconds left in OT2 on a cross deflected in off a Hoya player, it seemed. Hoyas had one good chance in OT, JT had a couple good saves to keep them in it before conceding. DAMMIT.

Wow. There is no reason we should have lost this game, especially on our home field. A poor result.

Harry very sad as is Dad.

That one's gonna sting for awhile. But any honest appraisal will find that this group overachieved this season. Losing only a handful of players, with many experienced players returning, the Hoyas future is bright. And their present, while disappointing, can take plenty of solace and satisfaction from a Big East Tournament trophy and a season filled with some really great results, including basically destroying Maryland's psyche (the Twerps never won another match after their defeat at the Hoyas' hands).

All true but guys like Lema and McCabe deserved a nice long run here.

Tough loss after a great season. Should have moved on, but that is soccer.

I didn't foresee a long run for this squad, honestly - I assumed the road would end in Cary in the next round, with UNC in the way - but I agree this group deserved a home send off. SMU was pesky and ultimately deserving, but the boys could've and should've emerged the victors this day. Sucks.

I agree. And, we basically played a #4-5 game. Home field should have helped though. And, you cant help thinking that we have now blown 3 winnable playoff games at Shaw after our run to the title game.

The future is bright. Lema is a huge piece to replace but Jacob Montes is ready for his star turn and the rest of the core returns save for Declan.
With good health and any kind of good fortune, the team is poised for another good year.
The big piece to find going forward is another Keeper. JT took over seamlessly from Gomez and is first rate. We need to find his successor now.
I have the utmost faith in Coach and his staff.

What does the recruiting picture look like for next season?

Looks like Hoyas will need to bring in a goalie, JT signing with San Jose.

That is a huge loss. That said, I am thrilled for JT who has been such a good friend to Harry and will be a terrific pro.

Pretty darned exciting news here. Creation of a spring college soccer program by US Soccer. The initial "event" will have six teams: Clemson, Duke, UNC, UVA, Wake......and the Hoyas. www.ussoccer.com/stories/2018/02/07/21/38/20180207-news-us-soccer-launches-2018-spring-mens-college-programInternational rather than NCAA rules used. One game against each opponent. US Soccer scouts in attendance. What a great recruiting tool. I'm sure geography played a huge role in who they picked for this inaugural group, and they probably will pick different schools different years, but it's great soccer company to be in. And there is another Mid-Atlantic school with significant soccer history that either declined or was passed over!

Nice to see men start 2-0, tough a 1pt win vs Robert Morris does not inspire confidence. I guess we'll see where they really are next week when they play a ranked team. We can stay optimistic until then!
Women getting blown out by Towson, so it seems more of the same for them(somewhat disappointing, though we have been conditioned to disappointment by both squads over the last 5 yrs or so.)
