Should be a tough one on the road, but a great chance for a quality win nonetheless. I am excited for a Saturday night game. Go Hoyas!

If Hoyas play energetic defense like they did last night, they have a good chance.

is it safe to come back or are the nattering nabobs of negativity still running the show around here?
didnt get to watch last night but Rick sounded excited to see the offense running smoothly and the D certainly got it done last night. Onwards, string a few wins together and maybe, just maybe, we can start taking joy from our fanaticism again.
cheers

Also start hoping McDermott comes up with a pg replacement plan to keep Creighton in the rankings and make this win mean something.

Butler is the type of team the Hoyas should do well against. They don't really have that super quick, explosive PG that gives the Hoyas problems and they are not an overly athletic team. The Martin kid used to kill the Hoyas, but he has been struggling for a few games with his shot. If they can contain him and execute their offense and defense in a similar fashion to last night they should be right in this game and give themselves a chance for another quality win.
The issue against Butler is usually they out execute the Hoyas. I think both teams know what the other team wants to do and how they want to do it, but Butler finds a way to make the plays they need to win and the Hoyas don't. Hopefully Georgetown can change that on Saturday night.

Hinkle is a tough place to play even if you are an elite team.
I'm not confident we'll get out of there with a win but I hope we compete for the whole 40 minutes.

I think we win this one. I was actually impressed with our effort at Xavier. Watching in person for the first time this season I saw some good effort. But the fouling and rebounds got away from us. Obviously last night, we corrected those issues and won easily. I'm thinking we might have turned a corner. Wishful thinking likely, but this is a gettable win.

Glad we were able to get passed a hobbled Creighton team....but winning at #3 in the RPI Butler would mean something.

Like I said before the Creighton game maybe, just maybe, going 1-6 and pretty well seeing the NCAA in the rear view mirror may have loosened the Hoyas up a bit. Play more aggressively and stop being so tentative. What have you got to lose? I was at the previous Butler game too and yes we just crapped that away. 2 points up with 13 seconds left, play great defense to force a bad shot, and then let a guy come in untouched to get the rebound. Gotta do better this time.

We have the talent to beat Butler and should have won the first game. No margin for error though and have to rediscover how to shoot free throws, as well as close out on shooters and box out on the ling rebounds. We have the same or better talent than Maryland, Arkansas State, Providence and Xavier and yet those teams represent 6 losses. So who knows what will happen. Will be watching and suffering along with others.

This is why I hate being a fan. Before Creighton game I had resigned myself to another mediocre season without an NCAA bid. I could relax and just enjoy the game without fearing how this next loss would impact our chances of going to the big dance. But suddenly a big win over a ranked, though hobbled, team and i'm right back where I was a few weeks ago. If we can beat a ranked Butler and run off a few wins over DePaul and Seton Hall suddenly we're back in the hunt. I'm pumped! Fired Up and Ready to Go! I hate this roller coaster.

Love the attitude but keep things in check - we need 3 more of those big wins in a row before NCAAs should even be uttered around here. Long way to go.

I would be happy if they finished strong, strong enough to get the bad taste out of our mouths. It would be good for the team to improve and enjoy some wins so that they can feel positive going into the summer. Just not worried about postseason at this point.

Creighton is in a free fall. Tomorrow's game will bring you back to reality. There should be no hope from that last game as Creighton looked worse than us on our worst night this year. I'll give us credit if we can cover the 10 points they are laying.

Rebounding, closing out on defense against their perimeter players and need some players to step up their shooting. Peak has to regain his shooting touch which has quietly fallen off in the past several games. Last year he shot 41% from deep and this year he is down to 33%. Hayes has clearly struggled with his shot as has Agau. The other notable drop has come from Kaleb who in limited minutes last year shot 58% overall and 54% from deep, while this year with more time is shooting 42% overall and 30% from deep. Against a team like Butler the possessions will be limited as they tend to run the clock in their offense.

Ready to see if what I saw Wednesday night at Creighton was for real or an aberration. Butler is one of the toughest, most disciplined teams that I have ever seen play basketball. They walk out on the floor and don't look special, but you watch them play together and it's incredible.
Butler's biggest weakness of late is that they let teams stay in games that they should put away. DePaul nearly beat them because Butler shot terribly early and basically got into a 20-point hole. We need to take advantage of that and then be ready for the inevitable run.
I've liked our pace the last two games. At first it seemed odd, but I think against both Xavier and Creighton we started slow and hung around then waited for the right time in the half to really make a run. It worked to perfection Wednesday.
Butler is eventually going to lose a game by letting someone hang around too long. Why not tonight? Hoya Saxa.
