Bradley Hayes has got to start hitting those little 'bunnies' at the rim. Gotta start getting a better contribution from him. Both of our big men have to be stronger down low. Stop double-pumping, Jessie! Go to the hole with some authority, Bradley!! If our big men are stronger that'll make up for a lot of the mistakes made by perimeter people on defense. Yeah... Preaching to the choir... I'm wondering if part of the problem with Hayes is that he is getting limited playing time and can't get in the flow of things. Not saying he should be getting more, but some guys do not play as well in short spurts of PT. As a crappy player, I know I didn't! No, I don't think the playing time is the problem. Hayes needs to go up strong, make a few dunks to get back his confidence. Quite frankly, I wonder what the heck he was doing in the off season. I see no improvement from last year. That is not to disparage Hayes. Just being honest.

Keep Pryor, Peak, and Govan on the floor as much as reasonably possible. And hope Derrickson keeps improving like he has been. Add in a little bench support and this team can not only beat Marquette, but can finish top 4 in the Big East.

Preaching to the choir... Agreed. It just kills me to see him be a foot away from the basket and instead of going up strong resorting to an off hand hook shot. I get shooting the hook from 5 to 10 feet out....I don't get shooting the hook inside 3 feet.

We gotta get this win. Lose this game to quette and possibly lose to them when they visit the Verizon and kiss our tourney chances good-bye/. Sweep a team like Marquette and I like our chances a lot more. The top of the big east is just too tough...have to take care of business against the 2nd tier teams.

Worry about the tournament resume when the picture becomes more clear. No use worrying about getting swept or sweeping a team we haven't playe yet at this point.

It would be great if the Hoyas could sweep Marquette, DePaul and St. John's. Need to take care of business against the bottom half of the conference. Marquette has yet to make the NCAA tournament in the new Big East. I'm still bummed Buzz Williams resigned there to coach at Virginia Tech.

Marquette is one of the worst offensive rebounding teams we face this year. They're 260th in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage. There is no excuse for the Hoyas to allow them to get a lot of offensive rebounds. Except we're a worse defensive rebounding team than they are an offensive rebounding team. Our suckiness is worse than theirs, so, unfortunately, ya never know. I just refuse to believe we will be this bad all year. We have to get better, and I, too, hope it starts against Marquette.

It's a very important game but not must win. As I noted in the tournament thread we need to go 4-2 against Marquette, Seton Hall, and Providence to have a good chance at getting to 10 wins and the NCAA tournament. Obviously, netting an away win against Marquette would be a great boost to our tournament chances, though, and I think winning it would show we are continuing to trend in the right direction.

We need to sweep somebody (or two somebodies, in the worst case) to get to 4-2, so it would be very helpful to start with a win.

The other huge key is guarding the 3 line. I think our pre-conference games will help us with that because Marquette will shoot a ton of 3's.

If we win this game I'm canceling all my NYE plans and hopping on the delusional train from NYC to DC to catch the game against Xavier.

Win or lose this game get on that train! Our BE games against Xavier, Creighton, Butler, and Nova are HUGE. Cripes, the weather is Spring-like in DC this weekend. Never understood NYE anyway. If it's so special why does it occur every year?

I'm excited for tomorrow night's game as our recent run and the absence of Ike has made me think we have figured some things out. We are a team with talent albeit not always the best coached. Let's hope the former outweighs the latter. From a talent perspective we can play with any team in our conference but need to put the pieces the together to make it work right.
Marquette at this point would be someone that we should be able to be competitive against in the conference but is a road game so never easy. Would be a big statement for this team as I think they could come from nowhere as for the first time in a long time expectations are lower than actual talent level. Time to sneak up on some teams.

IMO, thus far this season our 3 pt defense has been effective. Usually we keep teams from shooting as many threes as they average, and our percentage defense is good as well. Let's hope that continues against Marquette.

Agree with this. Talent is clearly exceeding expectations and if the team can stay disciplined at both ends of the court this could be a great opportunity at the start of conference play. Need to control the boards against Fischer and avoid cheap fouls in the middle. Marquette will take the ball inside and not simply launch 3s. I think that to win Hayes needs to be productive, MD needs to continue his second half play from the last game and the PGs need to handle the pressure on the ball, particularly when the crowd gets going.
