Sour grapes here. How does hoyarad's 86-82 beat my 88-76? Actual score is 93-78. I was off 5 from our score and 2 from LaSalle score. hoyarad was 7 off our score and 4 off LaSalle score. To say he was only 3pts off ignores the fact that he was 11 off actual score and I was 7 off actual score. Using your formula, a score of 170 to 1 would win. Obviously I need a life.

Georgetown 78 Cuse 68 I agree 100% - and was going to post the same thing (so talk about getting a life)! My example was going to be a final score of 90-70, 140-20 beats 85-65? Makes no sense. 88-76 has to win's yesterday's game! Hoyas 74 Syracuse 69

Not to worry, this Hoya Oracle Award is life-changing! I agree, but that's the problem with "total score". "RULES: 1. The WINNNER of each Prediction Thread is the poster: * who correctly predicts the outcome of the game (win or loss), and * whose predicted total score is closest to the actual total score of that game. 2. TIE-BREAKERS are determined by which posters' predictions are: a. Closest to actual margin of victory or defeat b. Closest to Hoyas' actual score c. Closest to Opponents' actual score d. Closest to total score e. Cleverness." But, if the Hoyatalk electoral college agrees, going forward, we can scrap "total score" and go with the rest. What say you?

I'd prefer to see who is closest to each team's final score, combined then total score. For example, had I guessed 100-71, I would have won but that would not be a good guess. I guess keep total score but combine the closest to Hoyas score and closest to opponents score first. In fact, I'd be willing to have that be the #1 tie-breaker.

It seems when they're bad, the Orange are offensively terrible. Given the fact we can traditionally deal OK with the zone, and we have a couple of scorers rather than just one guy, I live in hope. We win by the same score Wisconsin whupped us by:
