The indoor track season starts this week with the women going to the Navy Lidlifter tomorrow, Dec. 1, while the men will have to wait until Saturday for their first race of the season at the Navy Invitational. Usually the first meets are low key affairs, while the Hoyas test out the waters. On the men's side it should be interesting to see how many go under four minutes in the mile. The last two seasons have had four Hoyas in each season run the mile in under four and in the same race. I can count up to six or seven potential Hoyas under four. Two of those runners come back from last year (Amos Bartelsmeyer and Michael Lederhouse). Potential runners, who might break four this year, are Scott Carpenter, Darren Fahy, Jon Green, Spencer Brown, and Jack Salisbury. Who knows, maybe one or two more.
On the women's side it will be interesting to see how the 800m runners do. Unfortunately, it seems that Sarah Schmidt from Germany did not come back. Maybe a school record or two will be in the offing.

The "Hoyas" are scheduled to go to Indiana for the Hoosier Open tomorrow. The only Hoya entered is Scott Carpenter in the fast section of the 5000m.
