I assume quite a few of you are getting Board of Governors votes for the Alumni Association.
Does anyone know if the Alumni Association has any bearing on the status of our school's sports teams? I assume they have quite a bit of fund-raising input, so I'm being suer to vote for the former treasurer of the Hoop Club (Guariello) and the former president of Hoyas Unlimited (McDonald).
Is there any point to me voting this way if my goal is to forward the basketball and other sports programs? And who else might be a friend to the athletic side of GU?

Once again, it's an uncompetitive Georgetown election! We have no information on the candidates (other than quick bios), no platform statements, and no alternatives if we don't believe the chosen candidates are the best. Don't worry, though, the "nominating committee" took the liberty of weaning the field down from 46 to 12. How nice of the committee.
(To pre-empt a response I anticipate - no, I am not just posting this because of message board anonymity. I wrote the same thing in a less sarcastic tone in the survey following the voting. I have voiced the same criticism to a current member of the Board of Governors and to one of the candidates who made it through the nominating committee's screening).
