I mean that would be amazing, but would he really want to come to a place that has Waters and Jagan already not to mention a senior Tre Campbell (be nice now) and senior Mulmore? Even Villanova doesn't have that many point guards.

Brown is big enough to guard plenty of spots, and many teams are playing three guards anyway nowadays. I think there's plenty of space for another guard, especially a big versatile one.

You can never have too many guards, and we can figure out a way to utilize them together.

Does anyone know if Brown and Tremont are tight? Perhaps Tremont's commitment might even be a positive here. I can dream, can't I? It's nice to be in this position for a change.

I know Brown wants to transition to pure PG, but there's no reason both him and Tremont can't thrive on the court together. Waters in his own right is a great shooter and will be fine off-the ball for when Troy wants to take the reigns.

Thanks much...you can always count on Big John to tell it like it is, even if it may seem counter intuitive to the recruitment process. My favorite saying of his, when referring to people who may be blowing smoke but may really have ulterior motives, is "(they are) fattening frogs for snakes."

The way JT3 sees the game, I doubt he could ever have too many "point" players -- he'd be over the moon playing 3 point guards, a point forward and a point center (since he always says he likes "basketball players" and doesn't try to fit guys into slots, this makes sense), as long as they could all shoot the ball, too.

We know different because we have seen him play but the world does not.

I would think that a player like Brown would not worry about playing time competition. He probably sees himself as the kind of kid who is going to come in and get immediate playing time, and that the coach will make time for him even if there are other guards on the roster.
I also think that an elite player like him would be right to think that way.

I think it's sort of funny how we get one solid commitment, and suddenly others aren't going to want to come here because of the competition? If that was true, schools that do routinely recruit better than us would never get anybody. I'm not concerned. If someone is scared to come because they fear they won't get playing time so be it.
The bottom line is that if you're a good player you're going to play. Has there ever been a situation where we have a great player who sits on the bench? Nope.

Many sources have indicated to Rivals.com that the 6-foot-6 Brown, a utility guard from Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial, is closing in on a decision. After making official visits to Alabama, Georgetown, Kansas, Ohio State and Oregon, Brown has apparently asked the coaches recruiting him to allow him a few weeks of quiet in order to reflect on his visits and spend time with his family going over the different situations available to him. Currently, he's a little past the midway point of that time and the thought is that there will start to be movement towards a decision sometime in the middle to latter part of next week. Brown also has California, UNLV and Arizona on his final list of eight and has seen each of those campuses unofficially. Brown has been rumored to be leaning towards many of his finalists at one point or another and the prevailing thought is that he may stay out West. However, there hasn't been much concrete intel coming in on his recruitment for the past few weeks and he truly appears to be torn on his decision. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/starting-five-iowa-state-lands-four-star-lindell-wigginton

I take this as a good sign. Like Waters he is a top student and may also value what we have to offer beyond basketball.
