Sunday April 24th was the last day to declare for early entrants. So we are good to go on that front.

That's kind of a relief, but tbh I'm only worried about potential transfers, didn't seem like any of our guys were at the point where they could make that jump just yet.

I thought maybe LJ or Govan could go through the process just to see what they have to work on. All it would take is one team to falls in love and guarantee taking them in the 2nd round as a stash developmental player during a team tryout to make things dicey till the draft.

LJ already made it publicly clear (well, as publicly as one gets at GU) that he was returning. Govan never gave any indication he wanted to explore the option after only one season.

And, as a fan/Hoya, I'm happy they didn't "test the waters" even under the new rules. I think both guys made the best decision for themselves. I really don't like seeing guys jump too early when the odds aren't in their favor when a year or two of college experience could do them a lot of good. I know LJ has family concerns and that it can't be at all easy to try to be both a father and a college student-athlete at the same time. It has to be extremely hard for him and his family but he seems to be taking the long view of things and that is admirable. I hope the extra work and strain on him and his family pays huge dividends in the not-so-distant future.

Means little to make it publicly clear. We've seen time and Time again in sports where someone says he isn't leaving only to leave for the draft or another team through free agency.

Yeah, but that pretty much happens to guys who are actually being asked about their status because it is well known there is some national interest regarding their decision. There was no interest in Peak's decision outside of those of us in Hoya fandom. He didn't need to relay anything but he immediately did so anyway. And there were no inside info from sources suggesting that he was contemplating putting his name in the draft either.

Was anyone really worried about a player on this team declaring for the draft? Transferring I get but let's get real. The couple of players on this team that have a shot to make it someday wouldn't be getting much of a look this year. Remember it's only two rounds.

Are you familiar with the new rules governing underclass men entering the draft?

You think any of our underclassmen would be invited?

You think any of our underclassmen would be invited? While this is true each underclassmen is additionally allowed one NBA tryout with a team. So in the case of Peak that was a greater concern if say the Wizards or Phoenix (via Sean Miller for example) held a private workout and liked what they saw with Peak and mad some kind of 2nd round promise to stay in the draft. I think you will see similar things in this years draft under the new rules with the 100* classmen who have thrown their name into the draft. A crafty GM who can spot talent could really clean up if they have a stash of 2nd round picks. It's a little bit reminiscent of the old juniors eligible rule where Auerbach drafted little known Bird as a junior and waited an entire year for bird to finish out his senior year before the rest of the scouts and GMs caught on to Birds talent.

I'm not saying that I'm just saying with the new rules it wouldn't be necessarily surprising so there's no reason to act like it's completely unlikely....I mean LJ gave a statement for pete's sake. Not to mention the combine is hardly the end-all..
