I get people being anxious about it but imo it's a gamble either way... If you reach for a kid early that doesn't pan out you have to re-recruit the position. If you grab best player available you can end up with an uneven roster like we had last year. If you wait for better maybe you don't land them either and have to end up reaching late. Hey hopefully they land Tremont or one of their other top guys and it's all mute. How is it early when this is the recruiting season? We're seeing verbals all over the place right now, early for 2017 would have been last winter or early spring in my mind.. I'm not frustrated that they don't have any commits right now, I'm frustrated due to what I see as a lack of urgency from a program that has a .500 record in the new BE.. The post DayMyles has in the 2017 thread sum it up better than I have.. Their main targets are still on the board, they don't look like fav's but they're still on the board. So they're efforts are probably centralized there. It's early imo because this is the "early signing period", the fall. Spring is the late signing period, so I consider it late. The periods you described 95% of the class aren't committed during that time. I consider those more evaluation periods 800+ transfers in the spring plus coaches hiring/firing, Juco's, kids emerging etc. It's a bigger pool if you're going by numbers but different of course in many ways in terms of availability and years. We got 2 starters from that pool more than likely.

Interesting so we'll have the #2(Govan), #5(Peak), and #6(Copeland) best NBA prospects in the league next year. If things come together. Watch out.

Statement win vs. Maryland! To be fair they haven't finished listing the BE prospects yet. They could list those 3 in the 8-16 part of the article still to come.

So Derrickson comes in at #9 no other Hoyas mentioned in their top 13 or their list of honorable mentions.

Sure it has. If it wasn't, Nate Lubick's game log would look a bit different. But I'd definitely agree that overall talent has been less of an issue than pieces that fit together well and depth at spots many years.

Providence lands 4 star Center Nate Watson for 2017 Very nice get for Cooley & the Big East.. As of today the BE has landed 11 top 150 kids on Rivals 2017 list.. Really 13 when you put Markus Howard from Marquette and Zach Brown from St. John's in, Howard re-classed to 2016(#73 on that list), Brown is not on due to his legal issues but he was/is highly regarded.. Here's the breakdown by school.. Xavier-3 Nova-2 Creighton-2 Prov-2 Seton Hall-1 Butler-1

Nate Lubick came into college a top 50 prospect recruited by the likes of Duke. He left as an investment banker. Since Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert, how many Georgetown players have improved their NBA stock during their Hilltop years? Otto Porter for sure, but can't really think of any others. Players don't seem to develop as well under JT3 as they do at other top programs, but that doesn't mean they didn't have talent when they arrived.

And you could make an argument for Hollis Thompson and Henry Sims too.

You wouldn't include PE, Jr. and DaJuan to the list of guys that improved their NBA stock? How many of the guys that have been Hoyas seemed like NBA caliber guys that didn't make it? It seems like a bit of an oxymoron to say that guys don't improve much yet NBA guys will say that Georgetown turns out solid all around players that are well prepared for the next level. Nate Lubick was a solid college player but his ranking out of HS was flat wrong. I'm not saying we're all world with regard to development. But I think we're well above average.
