Thanks very much to Bradley, who showed I think, what a four-year college basketball career is all about. Dedication to his developing skillet. Patience. Loyalty. We will remember him fondly for his effort in the NCAAs last year. And for his solid contributions this year as a surprising key cog on the team.
And thanks to DSR. An all-time great Hoya. He came to Georgetown with an already terrific ability to score the basketball creatively. He developed into a great rebounder. He developed into a more than competent ball-handler. And, especially this year (and as we saw today), he developed into a very creative passer.
Best of luck to both of them. Hoya Saxa!

D'Vauntes will most likely go down as my most favorite player in hoya history along with Jabril. He represented our team incredibly well and played his heart out every game. Saddest thing for me right now is that I will most likely never see him in a hoya uniform again. Thank you, DSR.

Well written. Totally agree. Good luck to both and R. Williams. Hayes proved me completely wrong this year and in a good way. DSR has been a staple of this team for 4 seasons and he will be missed. Good luck to all 3 in wherever their path takes them!

Bradley's amazing rise to a very solid college center no doubt took a lot of dedication on his part. I greatly enjoyed his play in the Big Dance and this year. DSR gave everything he had..which is quite a lot. Riyan Williams....seeing you on the court, albeit briefly, brought back memories of your dad and the glory years. CONGRATS on fine careers at GU and in the future.

JOHN THOMPSON III: Let me just say, I got these two guys here. They've given of themselves, along with Ryan, along with our senior managers to this program. One of the hard things -- it's every year except for whoever the team is that is going to cut down the nets in a couple of weeks -- to get to this point. You realize that it's finite. It comes to an end. You know, you have a guy sitting to my left that's had a crazy career. Maybe his coach was crazy for the first three years. He's someone that came to work every day, every single day, and all he cared about, cares about is Georgetown University and Georgetown basketball. In this day and age -- all the stories you hear, a lot of them are true. Everyone is just, I want more minutes. I want more points. That's the antithesis of what Bradley is about as a person. It never was about that. It always was about what can I do to help make this school, this program, this group of guys, you, Coach, better. I just want to thank him for that.
The guy over here, you know, you start talking about Georgetown greats and a few names pop into mind. And he's quietly put himself up there with a lot of those guys. Someone that is a competitor. Competitor. Wants to win this year and last year to a certain extent.
He's built to score. He's wired to score. He's a natural scorer. But had to sacrifice some of himself, a lot of himself to help bring the young kids up to snuff, to help bring everyone along. And that's big. And that's big.
Then you have Ryan. I just wanted to thank these guys publicly. In the locker rooms, we will have many more banquets or whatever to do it. You feel bad as a coach as much as you want the big-picture look, okay, how the season went, is the season over, is it not over? You just wish it could end differently for these guys. Because of all they've given to me and to Georgetown. So I just wanted to say that.

Three guys with different stories but each contributed a lot in their own way. Riyan Williams, walk-on, famous dad, came to work hard and help the team however he could. Being a hard worker in practice helps the rest of the team develop too. Williams was not a star, not a starter, but he always had a good attitude and did what he could.
Bradley rode the bench for three years. I wish some of the guys who played ahead of him had his attitude and commitment. Senior year he surprised us all. Who knew he was really a player? Thanks for being a positive influence on the team for FOUR years!
And DSR? Gosh. We knew he could score when he arrived at GU four years ago, but top 5 Hoya scorer of all time?!?! And without the benefit of any long post season runs to add more games to each season. Still, within a 100 points of Zo at #4 career scorer! GREAT job DSR. Wish the team around you could have done more. Best of luck in wherever your career takes you next.
Thanks to all of our seniors - players, managers, band, cheerleaders - and the seniors who attended most of our home games over the last four years. Good luck to all of you!
Hoya Saxa!

Each year, it's always hard to say goodbye to the seniors. This year, we say goodbye to a legend in DSR and tremendous team players in Bradley Hayes and Riyan Williams. I'll miss them next year. Thanks for all that y'all have done for this program!

We bloggers who haven't played D1 sports don't understand how difficult it is to balance academics and sport. These folks spend a lot of time at practice, traveling, and of course playing. Trying to do that while maintaining your grades - at an institution that doesn't cheat - is very difficult and requires a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. I applaud our seniors for staying the course and making all of us proud.

Seniors, congratulations on your effort over four years. This time is always bittersweet for the senior - things they are leaving behind, but a future to build. Hoya Saxa to all!!!

Does anyone know, could Hayes and Riyan Williams return for another season? The argument for Hayes would be that he was injured for much of his Freshman and Sophmore seasons and when he did return to play the one year it was after the season was completed. The NIT is a post season tournament. The argument for Riyan is that he only used 3 years of eligibility so should be able to remain with the team for a 4th season. Anyone with thoughts?

As for Hayes, you only qualify for a medical redshirt with medical proof of a season-ending injury.

"If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same"
These Seniors exemplified what Rudyard Kipling was talking about. They handled the good and the bad with class and composure. True Hoyas.
