If Holy Cross can do it, why not us?

Take care of the ball and put it through the hoop. Our guys are guys that get turnt up on offense and that will carry over to D, build on both ends tonight and we will be in a good spot. We have guys that can score in a variety of ways and as long as they are confident in themselves, it will open up things for everyone.
I've taken tommorow as a sick day so hopefully it will be to watch the Hoyas win but if we lose to Villanova to end this season, I will still be proud of the team.

There have been wilder upsets in this match up...

Just keep playing. Limit the most senseless of the turnovers, no wild shots, and keep playing defense.
We'll need contributions across the board tomorrow. All of the pain and frustration of this season have just been leading to this moment of explosion.

This game is all about turnovers by us and 3pt shooting. We handle those 2 things we win

just some perspective on tre since his breakout Xavier game...13 games since
283 minutes played 15 fgm 58 fga 25.9% fg 4 3pt made 28 3pt fg att 14.3% 3 pt fg 43 total points (in 283 minutes!) 23 rebounds 24 assists 24 turnovers (from our point guard) 13 steals 26 fouls (yes more fouls than assists)
that is 22 minutes per game of basically terrible basketball from your point guard. i have been saying this the last month and I know III will not bench tre but I think kaleb needs to play more and tre needs to play much less.

This game could be decided in the first 10 minutes. If the HOYAS come out strong and play loose with the requisite degree of urgency, I really like our chances. If we get out to another slow start, it's over.

We need smart and deliberate offensive possession; hard defense, including making all fouls count; and rebounding.
If Nova drills a bunch of threes, they win. While I do not want to give them wide-open looks from three, I am okay with them taking decent but not great outside shots and us taking our chances with that. We need solid play from Hayes and another big game from LJ.

(1) Defense: Try to press again, until it definitely doesn't work. Otherwise, play a collapsing M2M, and everyone overhelp, so you prevent all layups. If they get open threes, they get open threes. We're going to need them to miss them to win anyway. A half-court zone isn't going to work.
(2) Try to pound it inside to Brad. But if we're having problems entering the ball for one reason or another, or if Brad is ineffective, let's not force the issue (even if it may seem on TV as though he's wide open in there and we should get it to him). Indeed, we could try to go small in that scenario to match them. I say that because we can't waste trips in this game. We can't spend 20 seconds trying to enter Brad the ball, or turn it over trying to enter him the ball.
(3) Obviously, we need LJ to attack successfully. Oh, and it would be helpful if DSR made 8 or so threes and someone else decided to put the ball in the basket. Relating to the "don't waste trips" point above, I'm perfectly happy to have LJ and DSR combine to take 40 or so shots. If they get it up on the rim, it means we aren't turning it over, and we have a chance.
(4) Pray.

We can't turn the ball over the way we did the first half against DePaul. A good team like Nova will kill us for doing it and we will be playing from behind all game (what else is new?).
Protect the ball, no dumb fouls, and then see what happens.

it's nice to feel some march madness this season, if only for 15 hours.

We beat them by 20 points last year at Verizon. Sadly geezerdom prevents me from remembering the details. How did we do it and why can't we do it again?

We beat them by 20 points last year at Verizon. Sadly geezerdom prevents me from remembering the details. How did we do it and why can't we do it again? We played our best defensive game of the post-Otto era, and Villanova was really flat. We took advantage of their bad start with a smart, energized opening stretch, and pretty much put the game away by the end of the first half. the most memorable moment was a heat check 3 from Jabril to cap a big scoring run late in the first half.
