Since there was a thread about concerts, I decided to start one about movies...
One movie I would recommend is 007 Spectre, saw it at the Dollar theatre and I give it 8 out of 10. It has replay value for me, especially with the opening sequence with entails a long continous shot that runs for over 4 mins. Sam Mendes's eye for shooting shines thorough during that sequence.
The opening sequence:

Seen it and also seen Revenant. However, easily the most enjoyable movie (I've seen it twice) is Star Wars. I don't care if it didn't get but a couple of nominations. I simply loved it from beginning to end. Good versus evil (kinda like Georgetown vs Syracuse).BTW Revenant is excellent if you aren't put off by the violence and gore.

I have not seen the Revenant, on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 the worst, what would you rate the violence/gore in the movie?

Some people actually walked out. Arrows going into people's heads and the bear attack on Dicaprio is horrific. If you can get by the violence, it is a really good movie, although a little long. BTW, the photography is as good as it gets.

I personally interviewed the bear and she told me all about it.

It has been universally stated by critics that the Revenant has the most realistic bear attack ever shot on film which one of the main reasons the film done well during the awards season.

I saw Dead Pool, 7/10- a solid film.
I do not know if it will revive the R-Rated action movie genre but the movie is unique by breaking the 4th and how it makes fun of its $58 million budget. The made more money in its 1st weekend then any of the X-Men movies have made during their opening weekend.
Fox Studios/20th Century Fox is having a year like Universal had in 2015 with the mega hits of (Minions, Furious 7 and Jurassic World). This year Fox has the Revenant, Kung Fu Panda 3 and Dead Pool to lead all studios at the box office so far in 2016.

For the 88th Academy Awards tonight, All signs are pointing to Leonardo Dicaprio winning for Best Actor and The Revenant winning for Best Picture.

The cinematography in the Revenant was pretty spectacular, and I understand how hard it was to make. But who in hell would ever want to sit through it again? I barely got through it once. Thought the Big Short was interesting but not that great of a movie. If you like Irish weepers, then Brooklyn is great. But I thought Spotlight was by far the best movie. Hope it wins, but it doesn't sound like it.

I saw Gods of Egypt, which was better than the trailer led me to believe. The movie has been getting knocked for allowing European actors to play Egyptians which is not neccessarily the case. The movie actually has a multi-racial cast. The one thing against the movie I would say is that it does feel outdated with the action scenes. The movie could easily has been made in the late 1990'2 to early 2000's. The movie to me does not have replay value, but it is a good story line especially how the God's conflict is the main issue and not a side bar story. 6 out of 10.
