I think this is a very smart move on his part. I dont see his value going up any higher than it is right now, so he'll go out and see where he is predicted which would probably late second round, and he will go back for 1 more year and show that last year was not a fluke.

I think he needs to strike while the iron is hot. WV had quite a run this year. I don't think that's gonna be replicated next year.

I wouldn't draft him ahead of Bobo. Where the heck do you play Pittsnogle? He's a specialist at the NBA level because he can't play in the paint to save his life, but he can knock down the perimeter jumper. Anyway, he has not impressed me in his matchups against GU.

Obviously the guys a great outside shooter, and he has the size of a legitimate center. He can really stretch out opposing defenses by knocking down a few outside shots, which will clear the lane for your guards and wings to slash. That could really be valuable to some teams.
However, he doesn't really do anything else. He's not gonna post anyone up, and he doesn't play a lot of D. If he can develop into an average pro level defender, then he'll find a spot in the league somewhere. True centers with outside stroke like Pittsnogle come along once in a blue moon... He's gonna have to improve the other aspects of his game, but he's worth a shot in round two IMHO.

How about Michael Doleac, Matt Bullard, Raef LaFrentz (post injuries), Brad Sellers.
All guys that have made it in the NBA with a special skill. Big guys that can shoot at huge commodities at the next level.
Not sure he is a first round pick, but I guarantee you he has more value in the mind of NBA types than Bowman. Let's face it...Bowman's skill set is a dime a dozen in the NBA. 6'7'' swing men litter the NBA.

If Bowman really pushes himself and his team next year he'll be a first rounder.
Pittsnoogle is a freak. But he's also a good shooter- can take Shaq aqay form the basket. Teams late in the first will take a shot on him.

What discussion of NBA three-point-shooting centers is complete without the best all time:
MANUTE BOL!!!!!!!!!
I watched a special on him a couple of weeks ago (if by watched you mean playing lightly in the background while I studied for law school exams). From what I caught, he sounds like a great guy. Too bad he comes from possibly the worst country in the world (canada, "the enemy to the north," excluded) in the Sudan, and that really dragged him down. Also he was in a terrible car wreck as a passenger in a taxi. I saw him once in the airport, and he is TALL.
It's also too bad that no coach ever used him properly: center on defense, perimeter-roaming three-point specialist on offense. His outside shot has to be my favorite shot in basketball history. I remember of Sportscenter once when he hit six threes in one game. Excellent.

While I agree that a) There's a place for Pittsnogle b) That Bowman's skill set is all over the NBA c) Pittsnogle will get drafted over Bowman I have to point out that a) Brandon is at least a legit 6'8.5" and long b) Bullard was more of a guard in the NBA c) Pittsnogle is gonna have a lot more trouble guarding big men than a lot of the guys you mentioned did

Just to say, no one has said Dirk Nowitzki. He has the similar shot to Dirk, but no inside game of dirks.

I can not even describe to you the total lack of class of the entire Pittsnoggle family...
Sorry, I just had a memory of the game this year when his family threatened to... oh nevermind...
I just hope that the tractor has enough gas to make it back to WV as I hope this clown fails.

Hopefully Pittsnogle makes it and Scott Pollard has some competition for the "funniest looking white dude" award.
