Dave was the fastest man in the world in the mid-50's, setting at least one world record in the 100m and won the silver medal in the 100m at the Rome Olympics in 1960. He anchored the winning US team in the 4x100m relay. That team was later disqualified because of one of the passes out of the zone (a typical US trick). Dave was an ophthalmologist in Florida and the grandfather of Christian McCaffrey, Stanford running back, who set the record for most all-purpose yards in a season this year and starred in the Rose Bowl vs Iowa and was 2nd in the Heisman trophy voting and AP player of the year.
I am placing this here because of the Georgetown connection. Christian's aunt, Monica McCaffrey Check, played basketball at Georgetown (1987-1991).
