I'm bored. Therefore, I'd love to hear known/potential/totally outlandish nicknames for our future Hoyas. Obviously a lot of mine are just off the top of my head, but I love this stuff and hope to hear some good ones from you guys: Marc Egerson:Love -- what his mother calls him The Love Boat -- no explanation needed for this extension The Edge -- obvious connection despite the poetic license on pronunciation) The Chef -- from this old article about him loving to cook www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/sports/2003/03/23egersoncooksont.html)Jesse Sapp:Rocky -- he's a boxer Raging Bull -- see above Jesse James -- he's a gunner Young Gun -- see above Octavious Spann:Tay -- what his mom calls him Dr. Octagon aka Kool Keith -- obvious connection Doc Oc -- see above Night Train -- from that song Midnight Train to GA Josh Thornton:Sling Blade -- billy bob thornton...well, you see where I was going Billy Zane -- well, he's a sniper Five Bars -- always in range

Listen to your friend Billy Zane. He's a cool dude.
If Luv's nickname is Luv, I have a hard time calling him anything else. But my favorites, for each:
Marc: Chef Jessie: Rocky, or Sugar or something suitably boxing Tay: Doc Oc makes more sense, but 'Night Train is just a great nickname. Josh: Billy Zane, just because it is so ridiculously awful.
Huge fan of old school nicknames, especially those that detail where the player is from (Commerce Comet) and those that make fun of them...but you don't see those much anymore.

Octavious Spann:Tay -- what his mom calls him Dr. Octagon aka Kool Keith -- obvious connection Doc Oc -- see above Night Train -- from that song Midnight Train to GA Maybe it should be "Midnight Train" to avoid confusion with the Guns 'n Roses classic "Night Train." If Docto Octo started mimicing the behavior Axl Rose sang about we're in big trouble.

Of course, if he started acting like Gladys Knight, we might be in trouble, too!

Nah. Lets not go there. I think the Doc Oct name would be better "suited" for our needs as a basketball team.

My preferences:
Sapp: Jesse James Edgerson: Love. Student Following called "The Love Boat", showing up at games holding a large boat poster. Spann: Doc Oc, with a Student Following called "Spann-dex", showing up at games with spandex on. Thornton: 5 bars (that's a really cool one) or "The Delaware Assassin"

a Student Following called "Spann-dex", showing up at games with spandex on. Do we REALLY want this?
