Wisconsin State Journal Badgers men's basketball: UW can't stay with hot-shooting Georgetown in 71-61 losshost.madison.com/wsj/sports/college/basketball/men/badgers-men-s-basketball-uw-can-t-stay-with-hot/article_dbc9ccf7-d295-542c-876f-8b0bf8a0183a.htmlExcerptsNEW YORK -- The national stage can be a dangerous place for a group still learning how to put one foot in front of the other.
The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team didn’t exactly trip and fall on its face Friday evening at Madison Square Garden, but there were plenty of stumbles for the Badgers during a 71-61 loss to Georgetown in a semifinal of the 2K Classic.
.....
What really hurt the Badgers was getting only nine points on 2 of 12 shooting from junior point guard Bronson Koenig, the team’s leading scorer.
“I thought the whole game, it was really hard for me to get in the flow,” Koenig said. “I thought they took a lot of stuff away from me and made it hard for me to really get anything. I was just out of rhythm. None of my shots felt good.”

Just getting a look at this. These are nice words: You get the picture. Between Hayes and Govan and Derrickson and Copeland up front, and Smith-Rivera, Peak, Cameron, and even Kaleb Johnson in the backcourt, John Thompson III has a gaggle of players capable of scoring, rebounding, defending and contributing to victories. It's a really nice team.
By March, we'll be looking back and laughing at the idea Georgetown was ever 0-2 in the first place.
