Carter and Rivers are both points (though I guess you consider Rivers a combo guard at 6-4)... We also offered DJ Augustin, though I've heard we're not really in the mix for him anymore. The fact that III is going after so many point guards MIGHT suggest that Jon will remain a walk-on (I think I'm allowed to say that, because I'm just suggesting things will remain as they are.) As a fan, thats a good thing, because it enables us to recruit another player, but I DO think it'd be a shame for Jon not to get a scholarship.
I don't know anything about Jones, but based on height I'm guessing he may play the same position as Duke Crews, who we also have offered in the same class.
For some reason I have a feeling that Carter is the most likely to come. III went to Delaware for Thornton and Marc, so maybe he's developing a nice niche there. OR maybe its just coincidence.
Personally, I'm still hope for Vernon Macklin in the '06 class. I don't know where we stand with him, but it just seems like he would be ideal, even if he isnt a 4 or even 3 year player. He and Jeff would form a tremendous front court combination. The problem is, we will not have many scholarships availible with PE Jr. coming on board. If Jonathan maintains walk-on status, then by the end of next year we ought to have 3 open spots (Brandons, Ashantis, and the one that may or may not be DJ's this season). Ewing will likely take up one of these, meaning there'd be two free. Who gets them? We've already made a number of offers to points, and at least one or two wings. I'd like to make sure Macklin gets an offer and is "shown some love" by the staff, team, and students on his visit. Outside of that, I'll trust III.

I also agree that Macklin should get one. He is on record for saying that he would love to be a Hoya. If we are looking for a big in '06, he should be our guy.

Can someone point me to a source for the assertion that he'd love to be a Hoya? I know we're recruiting him, and I'm sure we've offered, but he's also getting heavily recruited by, well, everyone. And the NBA is probably option number one assuming no age limit.
If Macklin isn't a Hoya, it won't be because we didn't give him an offer - I'm sure of that.
Also, Crews is a undersized 4, and Jones is a swingman.

Started by Air Jordan | Post by Air Jordan After the high school game they had an interview just showed some clips or whatever, and he said he wants to be a hoya because of their history of big men. I was jumping up and down but then he said he has gotten offers from other colleges but not GU as of yet. That's the on record I was talking about NCHoya3. Hopefully what Air Jordan posted was true.
