When a player enters the transfer portal, is that public? Or is there a scenario when someone is in the transfer portal ‘on the down low’?

I could be wrong, but it’s public in that D1 coaching staff (and potentially some members of the media?) can see, but no one else can. Word spreads quickly though.

Once a player decides to transfer his current schools has to enter his name into the transfer portal within 48 hours... Verbal Commits keeps an up to date list of players... verbalcommits.com/transfers/2019?division=D1

Well that 2nd video shows me that he has nice form on his J. If this is the 13th guy, I like this flyer.

Big fan of our recruiting strategy of late--go after high level athletes. Some will be able to hack it and will play, others won't. But recruit aggressively and don't be afraid of recruiting over anyone. That stuff works itself out.
Glover looks like a heck of an athlete. Does he have or can he develop the skills to be more than that? Time will tell, but it's a high upside play.
I think when Patrick was first hired a lot of people thought/hoped that his recruiting would look more like Penny's at Memphis has. That he could sell his alma mater, that he could sell knowledge of being in the NBA, and that we'd bring a cool factor back to Georgetown that could land top players again. It hasn't happened that way, but so far he's done a reasonably good job of identifying athletes who are a little further off the radar and bringing them in. If that success continues the team will develop, the record will improve, and we'll become a more attractive destination to top recruits.

I don't know anything but found this interesting this late in the recruiting cycle. Could this be a loop hole to get in players who have not been on campus or had an in home visit and who financially would qualify for full financial aid on the team without counting a scholarship?
Blueshirt scholarship offer
Blueshirting is becoming a more popular (but hardly common) way to creatively manage the number of athletic scholarships. Blue shirt rules allow for unrecruited players to be awarded a scholarship at the start of freshman practice. Like a redshirt, they will practice with the team but won’t be allowed to play for a year. This allows a team that may have too many commits to essentially borrow against their next year’s scholarship total. The rules are rather strict in regard to what is defined as being “unrecruited.” That means there was No official visit No in-home coach visit No signed National Letter of Intent No form of athletic aid
Given the recruiting restrictions, it is still a pretty rare occurrence for a student-athlete to be considered for a blueshirt scholarship offer.

Mac does all them dunks and he is 2 inches shorter. Now I'm not saying he isn't dynamite - he clearly is. Just sayin'

I think this would only work had the player applied and have been accepted in the normal admissions cycle. Admitting someone under the basketball admissions process would be a signal that he was admitted for athletic ability and would likely be a counter. Were he admitted under a different sport's counter, that would be an intriguing option. Otherwise, he has six Div. I offers despite being a two-star prospect.

He's a three-star prospect on both 247 and Rivals.
