Antonio Reeves 2019 6'5" SG/SF College programs were a little slow in appreciating the talents of Antonio Reeves. The 6-5 Simeon guard had the numbers, physical talent and résumé to warrant more recruiting interest. He emerged as one of the City/Suburban Hoops Report’s top 10 prospects in his class in Illinois over the course of his senior year, yet the process played out slowly. And once the coaches of those programs started turning up the heat on one of the more undervalued prospects in Class of 2019 in Illinois, Reeves was patient and deliberate on his end. As a result, the recruitment took time. But Reeves found his next basketball home and committed to Illinois State and coach Dan Muller on Friday. “I wanted to make the right choice and make the best decision for me,” says Reeves, who averaged 21.7 points, six rebounds and three assists a game this past season for the Wolverines. Reeves admits he took his time to decide but says, “I had to get it right.” chicago.suntimes.com/2019/5/17/18629505/antonio-reeves-illinois-state-commits-simeon

Not sure how reliable or accurate these tweets are. I’m particularly interested in Hyland.

Are we bringing in a class of 13?
Whatever happens here, have to love the way Ewing is grinding. What do we know about this kid?

Not sure how accurate this information is, but Hyland’s a player and I’d hope we could beat out LaSalle if we really want him.

Are we bringing in a class of 13? Whatever happens here, have to love the way Ewing is grinding. What do we know about this kid? He lost a family member in a house fire last year, was injured as well, I believe a meniscus injury. He didn't play any summer ball in 2018 as a result. Based off his highlight videos, he seems to have a good outside shot and is crafty getting to the basket. What impresses me most however is his playmaking ability. I think he could come in along with Allen and help take the ball handling responsibilities away from Mac and Jagan when Akinjo is resting/in foul trouble. Mac needs to learn to play off the ball to take the next step and Jagan shouldn't be making PG decisions, he should be trying to emulate Jabril's game. So I think Hyland would fit in well.l but may not get a lot of minutes until next year.

Surprisingly low amount of chatter on the board regarding this news. I guess nobody really knows who Leader Johnson but his Twitter account says he contributes to 247 and he has a decent amount of followers. If it is true, then lots of questions to be answered.

He's a talented kid. I'd love to add him. Maybe learn the ropes this year, mature physically, let Allen & Mosely move on, and start contributing as a SO.
Whether or not he (or Weatherspoon) is added, I'm guessing our roster isn't entirely set for the fall.

I’m a big twitter user and have followed him for approx the past year. He is from philly but moved to Arkansas but recently returned to Philly area. He primarily covers recruiting with a focus on Nova hoops and Penn St football. Also is a Philadelphia pro sports fan. I can’t find the tweet but remember him predicting Wahab would be a Hoya well before it was announced. At that time, a lot people were thinking PITT. Not sure if he had a good source or just a reasonable guess.

Am I missing something here but aren't we at max capacity with scholarship players and walk-on's? How does this work?

As was pointed out, our final 2019-2020 roster may not be set, meaning the 13 we think are playing may not be the final 13. That we are looking at guards is perhaps an indication that not all of our guards are returning. Or perhaps there will be a red shirt.

Am I missing something here but aren't we at max capacity with scholarship players and walk-on's? How does this work? Men's basketball is limited to 13 "counters" (i.e., either a recruited athlete or someone who receives athletic aid). In most cases, that's one in the same. There is a practical limit to walk-ons but if someone was recruited for athletic ability, they become a counter regardless of whether aid is awarded. Put another way, while Chuma Azinge may have been invited to join the program, he wasn't recruited in the sense of GU providing official visits or offering an letter of intent. Either of those two activities would provide the case for designation as a counter.

How many preferred walk-on spots are you allowed to have, 1?
