With all the other coaches reaching out he is doing his job by trying to add more value to his team with the value currently in place. Team depth.

This Boogie Ellis development is VERY interesting. I don't see it happening but Pat has pulled some late season rabbits out of his hat. If he pulls this one off then my excitement for next year will actually reach where the rest of the board already seems to be 😂. If he doesn't I wonder how this reaching out will be received by some on the team. i like to think coach ewing clearly told the team nothing's guaranteed or a given....on paper our roster looks good...it doesn't hurt anything for coach to reaching out.

Is a scholarship guaranteed? Look I'm all for upgrading especially if it gets Boogie. I am just not sure based on what the chances are of actually landing him, very low, if this was worth it. I guess we will see.

How do people feel Ellis would compare to Akinjo?

Ellis decommitted because Tre Jones came back. He knows his path to the NBA is at the pg position.
Right now he's more of an undersized athletic 2 than a pg. He's probably planning on going somewhere where he can play with the ball in his hands out the gate..

How are none of our 2019 recruits Top 100 guys? Are HS BBall players that good nowadays? Do they just not have the right exposure?

Don't think exposure is the issue for Gardner playing on that Spire squad. Spotlight might be since he's playing with LaMelo and Rocket Watts, but its not like people aren't giving him a look at the same team. Pretty crazy to me Wilson is ranked higher than him given how different their production has been till this point.

That's what gets me, both Q and Gardner played with/against solid competition and put up numbers. If it's based on NBA potential, then Wilson should be higher. I just don't get the criteria.

I'm someone who doesn't give TWO $HITS about rankings and stars and believes it's a gimmick needed for the uninitiated. With that said, I'm only chiming in to point out that Gardner's overall development may have been somewhat stunted playing with Spire this year. I say that because once Spire added the youngest Ball to their roster, a lot of their tough and nationally recognized opponents on their schedule like Oak Hill and La Lumiere cancelled games vs Spire because of the uncertainty of the young Ball's amateur status and other very questionable/suspect business arrangements surrounding the Ball brand and Spire. The truth of the matter is, Spire only played a handful at best of quality high school opponents. Most of their games looked like crappy all star games where no defense or real effort is being made and the majority of their real quality games were at the end of the season in the championship tournament they played in...

For the third year in a row, our incoming freshmen will come into positions of need, with the opportunity to earn a lot of playing time and make the BE All-Rookie Team. In Pat’s first year, other than the 5 (Jessie) and the 4 (Marcus), JT3’s mess left the perimeter positions and backup pt open for the taking, and Pickett and Blair took advantage. Last year, even more playing time was available after Derrickson’s early departure, and it was Mackinjosh who took advantage. With the departure of half the team this year, the freshmen will have to be thrown into the fire, well at least the bigs. There’s plenty of playing time available for the players who earn it. If they’re up to it, Myron and one of our freshmen bigs have a good shot at making the BE All-Rookie Team.
